AFL Round 20 Sunday Betting Tips
Collingwood Magpies vs Gold Coast Suns (1:10pm, MCG)
The Magpies season has taken a turn for the worst in recent weeks and they now find themselves as a real chance of missing the finals completely. Last weekend it was the Tigers who got the better of them, defeating them by 32 points at the MCG. Inability to kick a winning score is the main problem for the Magpies, with their last 100+ score coming back in Round 9. Despite their recent struggles, they’re still sitting in sixth spot on the ladder and are two games clear of ninth.
The Suns nearly pulled off one of their best wins of the season in Round 19 when they hosted the Bombers at Metricon Stadium. They were in with a winning chance right up until the final siren but ended up going down by 10 points. That’s now 14 straight losses for the Suns since they started the season with three wins from four games. The Wooden Spoon looks a sure thing at this stage.
The Magpies have the perfect opportunity to bounce back and find some form this weekend. They get the easiest draw of all teams in Round 20 and anything other than a big win would be a shock. Expect to see them put in a dominant performance here and cover the spread.

Carlton Blues vs West Coast Eagles (3:20pm, Marvel)
The Blues new-look Blues are a team to be reckoned with. They’ve won three on the spin and five out of seven under caretaker coach David Teague, in what’s just a remarkable turn in form. Last weekend it was the Crows who they got the better of with superstar Patrick Cripps leading the way with a monster performance.
The Eagles returned to some of their best form last weekend when they took care of the Kangaroos, defeating them by 49 points in Perth. Two wins in a row for the Eagles has them sitting pretty in second spot on the ladder with 13 wins and five losses. A win over the Blues on Sunday would just about hand them a top four spot, although top two and a home final would be their ultimate goal.
No one would believe you if two months ago you said that Carlton vs West Coast would only have a three-goal line, but that’s now the case when they face off in Round 20. The Blues are playing inspired footy at the moment, and while they may not win, we expect them to give it a hell of a shake against the reigning premiers.

Brisbane Lions vs Western Bulldogs (4:40pm, Gabba)
The Lions just continue to record win after win and now look like a team destined to finish in the top four. They pulled off another impressive victory in Tasmania against the Hawks last weekend, continuing their recent dominance over the brown-and-gold. That’s now six straight wins for the Lions since they returned from the bye, and 13 wins from 18 matches for the season.
The Bulldogs managed to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the Saints in Round 18 by destroying the Dockers in Round 19. They won by 47 points, which gave them a much-needed percentage boost. The Bulldogs still need a lot to go right if they’re to feature in September, and a win against the Lions this weekend is a must.
The Bulldogs have the ability to match it with the best teams in the competition when their backs are against the wall. We saw it a couple of weeks ago when they beat Geelong and we believe this match against the Lions will be another example. They absolutely must win this match and we’re prepared to back them in to cause the upset of the round.
