A-League Round 8 Betting Tips
Brisbane Roar vs Central Coast Mariners
Saturday, 5pm AEDT
Brisbane Roar have teased us this year with glimpses of brilliance, but they just haven’t shown it enough on a consistent basis to get results. Last weekend they lost a disappointing one away to Wellington, handing the Phoenix their first win of the season. That loss has seen the Roar drop down to eighth spot on the ladder with just five points through six fixtures.
The Mariners look to have made some big improvements this season and claimed an impressive win last time out against Western United. The Mariners only managed one away win from 14 tries all last season, so their 1-0 win over United was a big one. The Mariners have now moved up into the top six on the table, which has been completely foreign to them in recent seasons.
Roar’s inconsistency throughout their games makes them a hard team to have any confidence in backing. On the other hand, the Mariners have been competitive in all their games and are coming off a confidence boosting win on the road. We like them to back it up with either a win or draw at great odds.

Western United vs Sydney FC
Sunday, 4pm AEDT
Western United were disappointing again last weekend, losing away to last year’s Wooden Spooner’s in the Mariners. That loss was United’s second in a row and third in five games and has seem them drop to fifth on the table. United now return home to GMHBA Stadium where they have a 1-1-2 record and lost last time out to the Jets.
Sydney FC continue to tick over the win column and found #5 of the season last weekend when they took care of Perth Glory. Sydney were the away team in the Grand Final rematch, but it didn’t matter as they continued their strong scoring form with another three goals. That win sees them knocking on the door of top spot as they trail City by just one point with a game in hand.
Sydney FC are clearly the form team in this matchup and although they’re on the road, we still see them being too strong. They’ve won 2/3 away games this season and are the defending champions for a reason. We have them winning in a match that should also have plenty of goals.
Adelaide United vs Wellington Phoenix
Sunday, 6pm AEDT
Adelaide United took care of Melbourne Victory in a tricky fixture in Round 7, defeating them by three goals to one at home. Riley McGree took his season tally to six goals with a brace and continues to further his case as a must-have in the Socceroos squad heading forward. United have now won four games on the spin in the A-League and have climbed up to third spot on the table as a result.
Wellington Phoenix finally got off the mark this campaign with a win last weekend. They were the underdogs at home against the Roar, but it certainly didn’t look that way as they peppered the opposition goal and eventually won 2-1. Despite the win, Phoenix remain glued to the bottom of the table with four points through six fixtures.
Adelaide are the form team of the competition at the moment and are simply impossible to oppose in a betting standpoint this weekend. We see them making light work of the bottom-of-the-table Phoenix and winning this home fixture by 2-3 goals.
