A-League Round 7 Betting Tips
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne City
Bankwest Stadium, Friday 7:30pm AEDT
The Wanderers come into this fresh from a week off in Round 6. They would be keen to get back out on the pitch however, as their last game before the break was their first loss of the season, which came at the hands of new club Western United by a score of 2-1. The Wanderers remain in third spot on the ladder and have a chance to grab a share of the lead with a win here.
Melbourne City suffered their first loss of the season last weekend. They played their part in a seven-goal thriller against Brisbane Roar, but unfortunately for City they came out of it on the wrong end of a 4-3 score line. Striker Jamie Maclaren continued his impressive early season form with a hattrick, taking his tally to seven goals, which has him three clear of Mitch Duke in second.
The Wanderers have had nearly two weeks to prepare for this fixture and have the added advantage of being on their home deck. They’ve impressed so far with three wins from five fixtures and although they’re up against the league leaders, we see them as great value at home.

Wellington Phoenix vs Brisbane Roar
Westpac Stadium, Saturday 5:00pm AEDT
Wellington Phoenix finally got off the mark in season 2019-20 when they drew with Victory 1-1 last time out. They couldn’t quite manage to claim all three points but getting just one point would’ve given them a sigh of relief. Phoenix had the week off in Round 6, so there’s no excuses this weekend when they get a fresh look at Brisbane Roar on their home deck.
As mentioned above, Brisbane Roar were the winners of a seven-goal thriller against Melbourne City in Round 6. Roy O’Donovan was the star man for the Roar with a hattrick that included the winning goal in the 83rd minute. It was a much-needed win for them after a couple of close calls in recent weeks and they’re now sitting just one point outside the top six.
Phoenix fans haven’t had much to cheer for this season and unfortunately, we don’t see that changing this weekend. Roar have been building some solid form this weekend and were finally able to find the back of the net in a big way last weekend. We see them claiming win number two when they travel abroad in Round 7.

Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory
Hindmarsh, Saturday 7:30pm AEDT
Adelaide United have found some fantastic form in recent weeks and now find themselves on a four-game winning streak in all competitions. Last weekend they fell behind early on the road against the Mariners, however, they bounced back quickly with three goals of their own to claim maximum points. The Reds are soaring up the A-League ladder and are now just four points off the lead.
In stark contrast to Adelaide, Melbourne Victory have been in some really poor form this season. They’ve managed to win just one game to date and had to share the points at home against the winless Phoenix two starts back. Last weekend they had the lead at the main break against rivals Sydney FC but once again they couldn’t keep the ball out of their own net and eventually fell 2-1 to the champs.
We certainly aren’t prepared to write Melbourne Victory off this season just yet, but on current form we simply cannot see them having any success in Adelaide this weekend. The Reds are the form team of the competition and at home, we see them extending their winning streak to four.
