A-League Round 4 Betting Tips
Sydney FC vs Newcastle Jets
Friday 7:30pm AEDT, Leichhardt Oval
Sydney FC lost their first game of the season last time out against their cross-town rivals in the Wanderers. The Sky Blues dominated the ball with 67% possession compared to the Wanderers 33% and also led the shot count 21-10. However, it just wasn’t to be their day. Sydney had some decent results prior to that fixture, so they’re still well and truly in the top six in the early stages.
The Jets were disappointing at home last weekend when they fell 2-1 to Adelaide United. They had plenty of chances to grab at least one point from the fixture, but just couldn’t capitalise on their effort. The Jets have one point from two fixtures, which came in a 1-1 draw with the Mariners and currently sit in 9th spot on the ladder.
Sydney are and have been the better team of the two for quite some time. They may have lost last time out to the Wanderers, but as mentioned they were unlucky not to get anything out of that game and the Wanderers are 3/3 this season. Now back on their home deck, we expect Sydney to get the job done against the Jets in comfortable fashion.
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Brisbane Roar
Saturday 5pm AEDT, Bankwest Stadium
The Wanderers have had a fantastic start to the season and it only got better last weekend when they defeated Sydney FC in the Derby. They may not have had complete control of the match, but they took their chances in front of goal and now boast a perfect 3/3 record on the season to sit on top of the ladder.
Brisbane Roar were disappointing in their loss to Melbourne Victory last weekend. Despite being the home side, Roar struggled from the outset, going behind within 20 minutes and eventually losing 1-0. This result came after a 1-1 draw away to Perth in Round 1, which means they’re still without a win this season.
The Wanderers have been impressive in all three games this season and have given us no reason to oppose them here, particularly with them being the home side. Getting $2+ for the win seems like great value in our view.

Perth Glory vs Central Coast Mariners
Sunday 6pm AEDT, NIB Stadium
Perth glory got back in the winner’s circle last weekend when they defeated Phoenix 2-1 on the road. Bruno Fornaroli got off the mark with his first goal for his new club and Chris Ikonomidis found the back of the net as well, which proved enough to get all three points. Glory now have five points through three fixtures and are in the top six.
The Mariners had their scheduled bye last weekend due to it now being an 11-team competition. Prior to that they had a 1-1 draw with the Jets, which came after a 2-1 loss to the top-of-the-table Wanderers in Round 1. They haven’t been conceding quite as many goals as they were last campaign, but it still looks like it’s going to be a long season for the Mariners.
You would expect Perth Glory will be featuring heavily at the business end of the season, which is something you certainly can’t say about the Mariners who have been the worst team in the competition for a few years now. We expect Glory to get the win by at least two goals on their home deck.
