A-League Round 12 Betting Tips
Western United vs Wellington Phoenix
Saturday, 5pm AEDT
Western United failed to take advantage of the out of sorts Wanderers last weekend when they drew 1-1 on the road. They can actually consider themselves lucky to come away with a point considering they lost the shot count 19-4 and the possession count 54%-46%. Nonetheless, it’s been a fairly successful start to life in the A-League for Western United who come into this round in third spot on the ladder.
Phoenix were pretty impressive last weekend when they drew 2-2 with the defending champions in Sydney FC. Phoenix are now six games unbeaten in the league and look to be building really nicely as the season rolls on. They’re now sixth on the ladder and have a chance to climb even higher with a good performance this weekend.
Phoenix are the form team of these two clubs and although they’re on the road, we expect them to produce plenty of chances in front of goal. Western United have conceded the second most goals of any team on their home deck this season and we expect that trend to stay true this weekend.
Wellington Over 1.5 Goals
$2.30
Sydney FC vs Melbourne City
Sunday, 6:30pm AEDT
Sydney FC’s six game winning streak came to an end last weekend when they draw on the road with Wellington. They created plenty of chances as per usual but were a little too leaky on the defensive side of things. Despite their inability to win last weekend, Sydney are still two wins clear at the top of the table.
Melbourne City were bested by their rivals Melbourne Victory in the Derby last weekend. They were simply outplayed on the day and lost for the second time in their last three games. City have struggled with consistency of late but they’re still sitting very pretty in second spot on the table.
Although they failed to win last weekend, Sydney are the form team of these two and also have the home ground advantage. We’re surprised to see them above $2 at major agencies and are more than happy to be on them at that price.
Central Coast Mariners vs Perth Glory
Tuesday, 7pm AEDT
The Mariners recorded win number three last weekend when they got the better of Adelaide United. They were clearly the better team on the day and have already matched their win total from a season ago. They’re still far from contenders in the league but are certainly taking a few steps in the right direction.
Perth Glory were the huge winners in Round 11, defeating the Jets by a whopping six goals to two. Impressively, Glory have now won three on the skin whilst scoring 11 goals and conceding just two. They’re now into fourth spot on the ladder and are looking more like the contenders we thought they’d be.
Glory are in irresistible form at the moment and it’s simply impossible to oppose them here. They’re the much better of the two clubs and anything close to the $2 mark looks to be a backable price for them against the lowly Mariners.
