EPL Matchday 7 Betting Tips
Sheffield United vs Liverpool (Saturday 9:30pm AEST)
Interesting fixture to kick off Matchday 7 and an important one at that.
Newly promoted Sheffield United have had a fairly successful start to their EPL campaign to sit in 10th spot on the table after six fixtures. Their 2-0 win over Everton on the road last time out was their biggest scalp yet and came despite losing the shot count 16-2 and having just 30% possession.
Liverpool’s perfect EPL season remains intact after their visit to Stamford Bridge last weekend. They got off to a hot start to lead 2-0 at half time and eventually held on to win 2-1 at full time. Liverpool are now 6/6 and more importantly are five points clear of Manchester City.
Sheffield may have claimed a bit of a scalp last time out, but we don’t see them going anywhere near backing it up this weekend. Liverpool are arguably the best team in the world at the current time and should be far too good for the Blades.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Watford (Sunday 12am AEST)
Now for another fixture which potentially holds huge implications for the loser.
The Wolves have had nothing short of a nightmare start to the season and remain winless after six fixtures. Their 1-1 draw on the weekend was their third such result this season and came via a 95th minute equaliser despite being down to 10 men. They’re currently second last on the table with four points.
If the Wolves have had a nightmare start to the season, then I’m not quite sure how you could describe Watford’s campaign thus far. A change in management last weekend was supposed to bring about change to their on-field results, but if anything, it became worse as they were thumped 8-0 by Manchester City. They remain bottom of the league with just two points through six fixtures.
The Wolves have been poor, there’s no doubting that, but Watford have far more to worry about. We expect the home side to claim their first win of the season against a team that conceded five goals inside 25 minutes last time out – an EPL record.
Leicester City vs Newcastle United (Monday 1:30am AEST)
Finishing up with a play from the late Sunday night game at King Power Stadium.
The Foxes have been one of the more impressive teams so far this season and currently sit in third spot on the table as a result. Their 2-1 win over Tottenham last time out was a fantastic performance, especially after being down 1-0 at the main break. The Foxes defence has been a real winner thus far, conceding a league-best five goals to date.
Newcastle’s inconsistent season continued last time out with a 0-0 draw at home to Brighton. They’ve had a fairly tough draw to start the season with three of their matches coming against top six sides, although it won’t get much easier this weekend against one of the form sides of the competition.
Leicester are playing like a side that can push hard for a top six position this season and should be far too good for the Magpies. We have them winning at home by 2+ goals at fantastic odds.
