EPL Matchday 16 Betting Tips
Watford vs Crystal Palace
Sunday, 2am AEDT
Watford have shown glimpses of improvement in recent weeks, but they were no match for Leicester City midweek. They managed just one shot on target for the entire game and that came nearing the end of stoppage time. The Hornets remain glued to the bottom of the table with just one win in 15 attempts in what has been a season from hell for their faithful.
Crystal Palace recorded a win in their midweek clash against Bournemouth. They only had 31% of the ball but showed great desperation in their defence third to record their second win in a row. Palace are now sitting in seventh spot on the table and have a chance to jump to as high as fifth at the end of the weekend if they win this and a few other results fall their way.
We’re quite surprised to see Watford start as the clear favourites in this fixture considering how poor they’ve been this season. Palace have overcome a really tricky draw over the past month and to be sitting two points outside the top five is quite an achievement. We see no reason why they can’t continue their winning form this weekend with victory against the bottom of the table Hornets.
Manchester City vs Manchester United
Sunday, 4:30am AEDT
Manchester City got back onto the winners list in a big way midweek when they punished Burnley by three goals. Gabriel Jesus put on a masterclass with a couple of superb strikes early in the piece as City went onto claim their 10th win of the season. They still have a lot of work to do to catch Liverpool however, as they’re still 11 points behind them in the title race.
Manchester United also got back onto the winners list during the week when they defeated Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham 2-1 at Old Trafford in a very tricky fixture. It was a much-needed win for the Red Devils after back-to-back draws in the league, and remarkably they’ve moved back into the top six as a result.
This will undoubtedly be the most watched domestic game in the world this weekend and we suspect it will be a cracker. While City are clearly the better of two teams, we do see value in the Both Teams to Score market. City certainly haven’t been impossible to score against of late and we expect United to have success hitting the back of the net at least once at the Etihad.

Aston Villa vs Leicester City
Monday, 1am AEDT
Aston Villa were brave in defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge midweek. Their 2-1 loss was another decent performance against a top-class team and will give them some more confidence moving forward. Villa have had a pretty decent start to their campaign by their standards, although they’re still only one point clear of the drop zone.
Leicester City made it a league-best seven wins on the spin when they defeated Watford on Thursday morning. The Foxes were once again clearly the better team on the pitch and continue to further their case as genuine title contenders. Their recent form has seen them retain second spot on the table and they're still just eight points behind Liverpool.
Leicester seriously need to be regarded as the top tier team they are, and the bookies just aren’t doing that at the moment. While they are the clear favourites here, they should be a lot shorter than they are and we’ll continue to back them in until they give us a reason not to.
