Round 8 in the AFL offers a fantastic six game slate on Saturday, which is one more than we usually get! To celebrate, the folks at PlayON are offering some fantastic tournaments for the day, including some qualifiers into August’s MASSIVE $100k guaranteed AFL tournament!
We have you covered this Saturday as we present our fantasy team of the week for the six-game slate at PlayON!
Defenders: Taylin Duman, Ben McNiece
Keeping it simple in defence this week and going with Taylin Duman from Fremantle and Ben McNiece from the Bombers. Both are the standout rookie choices in defence this weekend, with Duman averaging 42 points per game and having a good matchup against the Saints this weekend.
After a stretch of poor performances, the Bombers finally have a very winnable game this weekend against the Blues. McNiece has been good value for his price so far this year with scores of 62 and 54 and if we can get that production from him again if should be good enough.
Forwards: Lachlan Keefe, Billy Gowers
For only $6m on PlayON, Keefe was an absolute steal against the Cats last weekend, racking up 76 points in the Giants win over the Cats. We are going cheap in the forward line this week so Keefe is an obvious choice as the Giants come up against the Eagles this weekend.
In the other forward line slot we’ll be taking the Western Bulldog’s Billy Gowers. Gowers seems to thrive when the Dogs have big wins and they come up against Brisbane this weekend who we expect them to beat comfortably. If Gowers can hit the scoreboard he should score well.
Midfielders: Nat Fyfe, Dayne Beams, David Zaharakis, Lachie Hunter
This is where the team starts to get interesting as we start to spend our remaining cash. The midfield will consist of four premium players led by Nat Fyfe, who has been untouchable in 2018 so far. He has just one score under 100 since Round 2 and dominated in a 77 point loss to the Tigers last weekend, racking up 128 points.
Beams is starting to hit his straps in 2018 and exploded for a 120 against the Magpies last weekend. Is capable of monster scores especially when he can find goals and we like him against the Dogs this weekend. Rounding out the midfield will be Lachie Hunter and David Zaharakis, who are the consistent factors in the team. Combined they have just 2 scores under 90 this season.
Ruck: Stefan Martin
Martin has been under 90 just once this season and is one of the premier ruckman in the league. After dropping Tim English, the Bulldogs ruck responsibilities will fall to Tom Boyd this weekend, who allowed Jarrod Witts to have 58 hitouts and 131 fantasy points last weekend. This should be a blood bath in favour of Martin.
