Tough week in our AFL Fantasy tips last weekend as our team scored just 579 points thanks to poor scores from rookies Nick Coffield and Nick Holman. We’ll look to bounce back this weekend as we present our Round 7 AFL fantasy tips for the massive Saturday slate!
This week we’ll be creating a team for the PlayON Saturday tournaments, which are headlined by a great $2k guaranteed tournament and some qualifiers for the massive $100,000 AFL Super Contest in August!
Defenders: David Mirra, Ben McNiece
Skimping in defence and forward this week so we can go really aggressive in the midfield so its Ben McNiece and David Mirra down back. Mirra has been pretty consistent in his first three games with scores of 56, 64 and 58 and if we can get similar production out of him this week it will be enough for his price.
McNiece got off to a hot start against Melbourne in Round 6 but just couldn’t keep it going, eventually ending with a respectable 16 touches and 62 points in his 2018 debut. Once again, that production would be valuable here.
Forwards: Matt Guelfi, Billy Gowers
Another couple of rookies in the forward line this Saturday in Matt Guelfi and Billy Gowers. Guelfi was super impressive on the weekend against the Demons, racking up 19 touches and 73 points in the loss. Took four marks and laid three tackles as well which should provide consistent points moving forward.
Billy Gowers had a great game against the Blues on Friday night, kicking two goals and taking seven marks on the way to 61 points. Has a great pair of mitts for a mid-sized forward and if he can continue to find the scoreboard should score well this weekend against the Gold Coast.
Ruck: Ben McEvoy
McEvoy had 107 points against St Kilda on the weekend which included 25 hitouts. Will likely come up against Tom Bellchambers this weekend after he was rested in Round 6 and should be the better of the two ruckmen. Had 27 hitouts in his last match against the Bombers.
Midfielders: Tom Mitchell, Lachie Hunter, Matt Crouch, Patrick Cripps
This is where we will win or lose cash this Saturday. We’ve stacked our midfield to the brim this week hoping to get a strong performance out of the premiums in Mitchell, Hunter, Crouch and Cripps. Crouch returned to the Adelaide line-up last weekend and racked up 30 touches, should have a field day against Carlton. Cripps has a tough matchup against the Crows but being a contested ball machine he should thrive regardless.
Mitchell was back to his dominant ways against the Saints on the weekend, racking up 45 touches and over 140 fantasy points, the Bombers don’t play a tagger so expect a big one from Titch. Lachie Hunter has been fantastic all season and the matchup against the Suns should be a mouth-watering one for him. Expect goals and disposals from him.
