Tough weekend for our fantasy team of the week in Round 10 as we scored just 627 points after some disappointing performances from the likes of Luke Dunstan and Lance Franklin. We’ll look to drastically improve on that this weekend as we present our fantasy team of the week for the Round 11 tournaments at PlayON!
Remember, there are plenty of awesome qualifier tournaments for the massive $100k AFL Super Contest in August this weekend! Make sure you throw your hat in the ring.
Defenders: Logan Austin, David Mirra
Logan Austin was fantastic for the Saints in his 2018 debut, racking up 23 touches and 97 fantasy points. He is a big boy but uses the ball extremely well (82% last weekend) so should continue to get good disposal numbers. At just $6.2m, if he can get close to his Round 10 output it should be great value.
After a few weeks out of the side, David Mirra has returned to the Hawks line-up with a couple of good scores. Racked up 93 and 68 in his last two games and has a good matchup against the Power in Tasmania on Saturday.
Midfielders: Tom Mitchell, Tom Rockliff, Mitch Duncan, James Harmes
Last year, having Tom Mitchell and Tom Rockliff in the same team would have meant skimping in every other position. However, with the price drop of Rockliff so far this season we think now is the perfect time to jump on. Has cleared the 100-point mark in his last two games and looks to be back to his fantasy ways of old. Mitchell’s record speaks for itself.
Duncan and Harmes are both the underrated midfielders in their respective teams and can both be banked on for a score of at least 80 week in week out. In fact, Duncan hasn’t been under 90 points all year while Harmes as averaged just over 100 in his last three games.
Forwards: Aaron Black, Tim Smith
Aaron Black came in to the Cats side for his first game of 2018 on the weekend, taking 8 marks and scoring a tidy 83 points in the process. Is another value pick here and has a great matchup against the Suns. Tim Smith played just his second game of 2018 for the Demons on the weekend and had a monster in the win. 107 points on 19 disposals and I predict the Demons to dominate again this weekend.
Ruck: Max Gawn
There’s only one option in the ruck this weekend and that’s big Maxy Gawn. Sits just behind Brodie Grundy in points per game this year but should have an absolute monster against the Bulldogs this weekend, who have struggled to field a first-choice ruckman all year.
