A-League Round 7 Betting Tips
Melbourne Victory vs Adelaide United (Saturday 7:50pm AEDT)
After a slow start, Melbourne Victory have officially hit their straps this season. They’ve notched four straight wins, including impressive back-to-back victories over both Sydney teams. They’ve moved into second position on the table and are just two points behind Perth Glory in first. Victory will be desperate to make it five wins in a row this weekend, before they go on the road to take on Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City in the next two weeks.
Adelaide United were able to hang on at home against the Roar last weekend, eventually coming out on top by two goals to one. The win takes United to a 3-2-1 record on the season, which has them in fourth position on the table. They’ve been in great form all year long, winning the FFA Cup and now finding themselves in the top four in the league, but they’ll face one of the toughest tests in Australian football when they travel to face Victory on Saturday night.
It’s impossible to oppose Victory in their current form. They’ve won five on the trot with some really big scalps coming in the last two. Getting them at even odds seems like an absolute steal here.
Perth Glory vs Melbourne City (Saturday 10pm AEDT)
Although they were tipped by many as the dark horse this season, Perth Glory have been really impressive this campaign. They’re the only team to remain undefeated after six games and currently sit on top of the ladder with a 4-2-0 record, which has them clear of Victory by two points. They were a little bit lucky to grab a point on the road last weekend, but will be more confident they can get back to winning ways on their home deck in this one.
Melbourne City come into this road game on the back of a really nice 3-0 win at home against Newcastle Jets last weekend. They were asked to respond from their disappointing 2-0 loss to Brisbane Roar the week before and did so in emphatic fashion. That win improved their season record to 3-1-2, which has them in fifth position on the table.
Again, it’s nearly impossible to oppose Perth here. They’re the undefeated league leaders and are a juicy $2.18 to win. In our opinion, these are odds you simply can’t pass up.
Newcastle Jets vs Brisbane Roar (Sunday 5pm AEDT)
As mentioned above, the Jets are coming off a really poor performance against City in their last time out, where they conceded in the opening two minutes of play and eventually fell 3-0. The good news for the seventh placed Jets is that they return home this weekend in a very winnable game against Brisbane.
Brisbane Roar are another one of those teams stuck in limbo at the moment and are in sixth position with a 1-3-2 record. They’ve had plenty of chances to claim three points, but just haven’t been able to hang on late in games. They now hit the road where they are 0-1-2 so far this season.
We’re opting to with the home team once again here. The Jets have only had two opportunities to play in front of their home fans this season and will get a great opportunity to kickstart their season with a win over the Roar here. We’re prepared to back them in.
