We've got horse racing betting tips and comments for every race of the day below.
2017 Magic Millions Day Racing Tips
Race 1
This looks a very open betting race and not an easy start to the day. MOUNT PANORAMA has contested harder races than these throughout his entire career. With better luck in a few of those races he probably wouldn't be a maiden this long, so if he brings his best here he will be hard to beat. He gets the blinkers on for the first time here and the tongue tie is also applied. Draws well so he goes on top. Former Peter Moody horse DOT PAINTING resumes after a year off the track and has trialled a number of times leading into this. He was good on debut and looks like he could go well here,he appeals as a value chance.
Tip: Mount Panorama
Race 2
There's a few chances here but QUEEN TARA does look hard to beat after a good win at Doomben last start where she ran quick time. She comes into this third up from a spell and she won third up last prep. Has won her only start at the track, drops to 54kg, draws well in barrier 5 and has Jeff Lloyd aboard so should be hard to beat here. Upstart finished 2nd to a progressive horse first up who has since come out and won again, wile Red Scarlett has won three in a row at the track.
Tip: Queen Tara
Race 3
Pretty keen on the chances of MADOTTI here who has returned this time in with two good performances. First up she won a decent Saturday race in Sydney with 60kg before finishing 2nd to Egyptian Symbol who is favourite for the Fillies and Mares race. Drops to 54kg here and has won her only race at this track and distance. Draws well and looks a very good bet to me at $4.40. Siegfried could be the value chance at around $9 after a solid first up win.
Tip: Madotti (BEST BET)
Race 4
Really keen on BOOM TIME here who has won his last three starts for us and there's no reason to jump off him. He won over 2500m last start and the drop back to 2200m here isn't a worry. Stays on the minimum of 54kg here and will get a lovely run from barrier 2. Has an important 7kg advantage in the weights against Stratum Star which I think is enough to put him at an advantage. San Telmo looks a decent price as an outside hope.
Tip: Boom Time
Race 5
Good race for the fillies and mares here. PRIVATE SECRETARY has drawn horribly here but her two runs so far this prep have been very good in solid time too. Her form behind Sheidel first up is plenty good enough to win this and she simply got too far back last start so if she can be within range on the turn she can definitely win. EGYTIAN SYMBOL is a deserved favourite, while KINSACHI and PIONEERING also have solid claims. The value could be HIJACK HUSSY and ALTER CALL if she gets a run.
Tip: Private Secretary
Race 6
LUCKY HUSSLER won this race last year under similar circumstances and despite the 5kg he has to give the rest of the field, he might still be too good her if he reproduces the form from the end of last prep wich saw him win a Group 3. Gets the blinkers back on and just needs a good ride. SNOOPY has been racing well and with 54kg can give this a good shake, while MOST IMPORTANT has won three straight and is well suited.
Tip: Lucky Hussler
Race 7
WINNING RUPERT is a superstar and will be winning this with all things being even. He will likely lead from barrier 6 and be way too good. The times back up the visual brilliance of his wins and he looks in another league to any of these. SPENDING TO WIN, ECKSTEIN, and RIVER RACER could be the horses at big odds to win if things don't go right for the favourite. Taking on Global Glamour.
Tip: Winning Rupert
Race 8
I think the draw will play a big part here and happy to have something on MADEENATY at the price. I think she's very good and should be undefeated, and from the good gate she can get a very easy run. The winkers go on here and at $8 she is worth a bet. FROM WITHIN looks the best of the Sydney horses for Chris Waller and Hugh Bowman, while the support has been for OURS TO KEEP who is undefeated. Madame Moustache could be a value runner at 40/1.
Tip: Madeenaty (BEST VALUE)
Race 9
I had this between DOTHRAKI and TARGET IN SIGHT based on both of their terrific first up runs last campaign behind two subsequent Group 1 winners in Takedown and Malaguerra respectively. Leaning towards Target In Sight due to his outstanding first up record and barrier 1 which should see him get a good run in midfield, but Dothraki is undefeated from two starts at track and distance and can win.
Tip: Target In Sight
