AFL Daily Fantasy Tips - Round 9
Defenders
Nathan Wilson
Since the injury of Adam Kennedy back in Round 8, Nathan Wilson has taken on a bigger role in the backline especially running and kicking off half back. The last two weeks have garnered scores of 81 and 100 for the back and with the injury to some key midfielders we could see him spend some time in the guts.
Sam Gilbert
Gilbert was introduced into a part-time ruck roll a few weeks ago and benefited from it on the weekend with a 95 against Carlton. While he might not be getting a massive amount of hitouts, his mobility usually makes him a threat against other ruckmen at ground level as he was able to rack up 23 touches in Round 9 for 95 points. Josh Bruce comes out for the Saints this week so Gilbert should get the permanent 2nd ruck duties.
Midfielders
Tom Mitchell
Mitchell, along with Zach Merrett and Tom Rockliff, is the best player in fantasy at the moment and to not have him in your line-up would be a step in the wrong direction. His 125, 136 and 132 over the last 3 weeks is the highest scoring average over that period. Is a must have at any price.
Seb Ross
The Saints midfielder has been a ball magnet over the last few weeks. He has cleared the 30-disposal mark in his last three games and should get plenty more of the ball of half back with Jimmy Webster coming out of the side. Is just under the price of a premium mid so represents value.
Dion Prestia
The Tigers prized recruit comes back into the side after an extended period on the sidelines. At $11,350, he’s way undervalued for his potential output. Has the ability to score over 100 at a canter and we’ll be banking on that here.
Tim Taranto
The rookie has been excelling in the mid/forward roll over the past few weeks and will likely finally get his chance in the midfield this week with Stephen Coniglio added the host of injuries the Giants currently have. At just $9,500, could add some value to the squad.
Forwards
Jamie Elliot
Since returning from injury a few weeks ago, the small forward has been working his way up to some decent form. He has slotted 3 goals in each of his last two games and should have another good game here against a Hawthorn team that is ravaged by injuries particularly in defence.
Hugh Greenwood
An unknown quantity to say the least, Greenwood will come into the Adelaide side for his debut on the weekend. At just $6,400 he’s a good gamble as the Crows play the Lions this week who have been the easiest team to score against all season.
Ruck
Shane Mumford
Just 72 and 81 in his last two games but should have a field day in the hit-outs department this week playing against the smaller, but more mobile duo of Ivan Soldo and Toby Nankervis. Much cheaper than the premium options like Stefan Martin and Sam Jacobs who, possibly to their detriment, play against each other this weekend.
