We hit on just one of three bets in our A-League tips last weekend to snap what had been a profitable run. The A-League returns to it’s normal scheduling after a few disrupted weeks this weekend and we are back with another slate of betting tips for Week 24 below.
A-League Week 24 Betting Tips
Adelaide United vs Newcastle Jets (Friday 7.50pm AEDT)
Adelaide and Newcastle kick off Round 24 of the A-League on Friday night in what is probably the game of the round. Newcastle currently sit in second place on the ladder and after Sydney FC lost last weekend, Newcastle now have the opportunity to push for the minor premiership and the home field advantage throughout the finals. They currently sit just five points behind the Sky Blues with four games left to play.
Adelaide United currently sit fifth in a tight race for the final two finals spots. With 30 points, they are tied with Western Sydney and sit just two and four points ahead of Brisbane and Perth respectively. They drew with Melbourne City in Week 23 and will have another tough task Friday night.
Newcastle have won the last two clashes between the two teams, both by a score line of 2-1. It has been a fairly low scoring fixture in recent history with just 15 goals scored throughout the last 10 ties. We think this could be another slugfest here as neither team will want to give an inch, particularly Adelaide United at home as they protect the smallest of margins in the top six.

Melbourne City vs Western Sydney Wanderers (Saturday 7.50pm AEDT)
Another great matchup Saturday night Melbourne City host the Wanderers at AAMI Park. After a draw with Adelaide in Week 23, Melbourne City relinquished the third spot on the A-League table to their cross-town rivals, the Melbourne Victory. They’ll be desperate to retain that seed as it means facing an arguably weaker opponent in the early rounds of the finals.
The Wanderers are also in the tight race for the last few finals spots. They are currently in sixth place with 30 points but have won just three of their last ten games. The Wanderers 9 draws on the season is the most of any team in the league, and they boast the fewest losses in the league outside of Sydney and Newcastle.
Western Sydney are undefeated in their last three games against Melbourne City, winning the two matches they played at home. Tough game to call here, these two teams are very evenly matched and we have to give the slight edge to Melbourne at home.
TIP: Melbourne City to win - $2 at Ladbrokes
Perth Glory vs Melbourne Victory (Sunday 7pm AEDT)
The Glory will host Melbourne Victory in Perth to round out Week 24 on Sunday night. It’s another massive game in the scheme of the playoffs, with Perth currently trailing Adelaide and Western Sydney by just four points. The Glory are coming off a great win over Central Coast but haven’t played a competitive match since the 10th of March due to scheduling.
Melbourne Victory have won their last two games in a row, wins over Melbourne City and Central Coast and have arguably been the form side of the comp over the last month or so. Currently 12 adrift of the Jets in 2nd place, finishing in the top two is out of the question, however, they’ll look to hold third place over Melbourne City in the run home.
The Victory have won their last three games against Perth, scoring a total of 9 goals over those three games. The 2-0 win in Perth in November was particularly impressive, as Melbourne haven’t faired well out West in the past, losing their last three in WA before that game. We think Melbourne should continue their hot run of form here and earn an away win.
TIP: Melbourne to win - $1.72 at Sportsbet
