2-0 in our mid-week A-League tips to continue our profitable run over the past month. With the teams backing it up for another full round of action this weekend, we are back with our best three tips for Round 16 of the A-League below.
A-League Week 16 Betting Tips
Newcastle Jets vs Brisbane Roar (Friday 7.50pm AEDT)
The Newcastle Jets continued their winning ways in the mid-week round, defeating the Mariners 2-0 to retain the 2nd spot on the A-League table. They now sit five points clear of Melbourne City in 3rd place and can put some real pressure on Sydney FC at the top with a win here.
The Roar have lost their last two matches, sending them to second last on the A-League table with just three wins from 15 games. Their 16 goals scored is right near the bottom of the table. Their last goal came back in Week 13 in a 2-1 win over Adelaide United and in the past two weeks in particular, they have looked particularly sluggish going forward.
On the contrary, Newcastle have been one of the most damaging teams going forward all year. Their 34 goals through 15 games is second only to Sydney FC and with just one loss in Newcastle all season, we can’t see them losing this one to an underperforming Brisbane side.

Melbourne Victory vs Perth Glory (Saturday 7.50pm AEDT)
After is looked like they were beginning to turn their season around, Melbourne Victory received yet another red card, this time to centreback Rhys Williams, in the 8th minute of their game against the Phoenix on Wednesday night. The Victory still managed to take the 1-0 lead into the break, but couldn’t hold off Wellington with the extra man, eventually losing 2-1.
With the loss, the Victory slipped to 5th on the A-League table, and are now just four points clear of the Perth Glory in 7th place. Perth can leapfrog into the top six with a win here as they sit just two points behind Western Sydney. The Glory lost 2-0 at home against Melbourne City in the mid-week round, and will make the cross country trip with just two days rest before their clash against the Victory.
Williams will be suspended for this clash after receiving the red in the mid-week game, but isn’t a massive loss for the Victory. Melbourne have defeated Perth in their last two games by a combined aggregate of 6-1 and with the Glory having to make the cross country trip on limited rest, we think the Victory get the job done here.

Central Coast Mariners vs Melbourne City (Sunday 5pm AEDT)
Melbourne City are coming off a great 2-0 win in Perth in the mid-week round in which star import Ross McCormack scored both goals. The win moved them back into the top three on the A-League table and now sit four points clear of Adelaide in fourth place. They’ll be hoping to extend that margin here as they play 8th placed Mariners and Adelaide have a tough game against Sydney FC.
A 2-0 win over Sydney FC back in Week 6 made the Mariners the first team to beat the Sky Blues in the A-League in over a year. The season was looking promising at that point especially after a 4-1 win over Wellington just two weeks later. However, they are now winless through their last six games, and find themselves third last on the A-League table.
This is a great chance for Melbourne City to get another good away win and put some real pressure on Newcastle and Sydney at the top of the leaderboard. Their counter-attacking play was at it’s best against Perth on the weekend and coming up against a team that ahs scored just 14 goals through 15 games in the Mariners, we like City to earn victory here.
