Another solid week in our A-League betting tips last weekend moves us to 8/10 over the last three rounds. We’ll be looking to continue our good form this weekend as we preview Week 11 of the Hyundai A-League season and give our betting tips below.
A-League Week 11 Betting Tips
Sydney FC vs Melbourne City (Friday 7.50pm AEDT)
Sydney FC made a statement last weekend as they defeat cross town rivals, the Western Sydney Wanderers, 5-0 in a dominant performance. They now sit five points clear atop the table and will be looking to increase that lead over a potential threat here with a win against Melbourne City.
While they might not have been as impressive, Melbourne also captured a good win on the weekend, downing the Central Coast Mariners 1-0 as Ross McCormack slotted his 7th goal in just 9 games so far this season. City sit 6 points behind Sydney in 3rd place on the table so a win here would do wonders for their title chances.
Sydney FC are undefeated against Melbourne in their last five encounters, winning four of them. The last time Melbourne City defeated the Sky Blues was back in the FFA Cup Final of 2016, where Tim Cahill slotted the only goal of the game. City will be without Cahill, who departed the club last week sighting a lack of game time as a major issue. Tough game to call here, in Sydney we obviously have to give the slight edge to the home team but we think the under on total goals is the best bet here.
TIP: Total goals UNDER 2.5 - $1.88 at Sportsbet
Newcastle Jets vs Adelaide United (Saturday 5.35pm AEDT)
The Newcastle train rolled on last weekend as the Jets secured a great 2-1 away win over Perth. Their 23 goals for on the season so far is the best mark in the league and they’ll be looking to improve on that this weekend as they host Adelaide United.
Adelaide United also had a great away win on the weekend, downing Melbourne Victory 2-1 after a 72nd minute goal to George Blackwood goal gave them the lead. United will be without two key players for this weekend’s game, however, with Ben Garuccio and Daniel Adlung both set to miss after receiving red cards against Melbourne.
The teams have traded wins over the last few seasons, but one trend that is prevalent when they face off is the lack of goals. seven of the last nine meetings between the two teams have ended with two total goals or less and we like that trend to continue here.
TIP: Total goals UNDER 2.5 - $2.10 at Ladbrokes
Brisbane Roar vs Melbourne Victory (Sunday 7pm AEDT)
The Victory were in the top six for a short amount of time, before a loss to Adelaide on the weekend saw them fall back out. With a 2-4-4 record on the season so far, any hopes of winning the minor premiership will be gone for the Victory, however, with the talent they have in their squad, a Championship run can never be written off. They’ve struggled through suspension, injuries and international call ups through the first part of the season but we can see them settling soon.
Brisbane played out a 0-0 draw at home against the Phoenix last weekend and will get another home game here. They also have a 2-4-4 record through 10 games, while their goal scoring has been a major issue with just 12 goals for so far.
Melbourne have a slight advantage over Brisbane in recent history, going undefeated through their last three matchups including a 5-1 win in Brisbane in August. We feel like the turning point for the Victory has to be somewhere in the near future, and against a struggling Brisbane team, we like them to find an away win here.
TIP: Melbourne Victory to win - $2.50 at CrownBet
