Unfortunately, we went 0-4 through Weeks 21 and 22 of the EPL. However, the week break for FA Cup ties have given us time to regroup and we’ll look to bounce back this weekend as we preview some of the key games in Week 23 and give our betting tips below.
EPL Week 23 Betting Tips
Chelsea vs Leicester City (Sunday 2am AEDT)
Chelsea and Arsenal played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in Week 22 to keep both teams in the hunt for a top four finish. Chelsea in particular look a safe bet to be in the Champions League next year, as they sit 3rd with 46 points, five clear of Tottenham in 5th place. A win here for the Blues will put pressure on Manchester United, who sit just one point above Chelsea in 2nd place.
Leicester City defeated Huddersfield 3-0 back in Week 22, which saw them advance to 8th on the EPL table with five wins from their last 10 games. After being in danger of being relegated earlier in the season, the Foxes have turned their form around and will now be eyeing a spot in next years Europa or possibly even Champions League.
Chelsea have hit some great form in the last few months. They are undefeated in their last eight games in all competitions and a few days before their tight 2-2 draw with Arsenal, they smashed Stoke to the tune of 5-0. We think they carry on that form here and win, although the Foxes are usually good for at least one goal.
TIP: Chelsea to win and both teams to score - $2.70 at Sportsbet
Tottenham vs Everton (Sunday 4.30am AEDT)
After a 4-1 loss to Manchester City back on Christmas Eve, the Spurs have turned their season around and have gone undefeated in all competitions in their last six games. They currently sit in 5th place, just three points out of the top four and will be desperate for a win here against Tottenham. Harry Kane continues to dominate for the Spurs, scoring eight goals in the Spurs last five games.
Everton went through a slight purple patch in the late parts of November and early December, but have since been on the decline once again. They have lost their last three games, two of them to tough competition in Manchester United and Liverpool. It’s a really tough stretch of games for the Toffees, along with the aforementioned teams and Tottenham, they’ll have to play Leicester and Arsenal in the next three weeks.
Tottenham start as $1.25 favourites here, and with only one home loss on the season so far, the odds seem about right. Everton have a 3-4-4 record away from home. The Spurs defence has been great all year, allowing just 21 goals from their 22 games so far. We like them to keep a clean sheet here and earn victory.
TIP: Tottenham to win to nil - $1.91 at Ladbrokes
Liverpool vs Manchester City (Monday 3am AEDT)
Manchester City remain undefeated in the 2017-18 season and are absolutely flying. They sit 15 points clear of their cross town rivals on top of the ladder and show no signs of slowing down as they chase the first undefeated EPL season since the Arsenal squad of 2002.
If there’s a team that could match Manchester City’s form over the past few months, its Liverpool. The Reds are undefeated through their last 17 games in all competitions and have been scoring in buckets. 18 goals have come from their last six games moving their EPL season tally to 50, second only to Manchester City.
Tough game to call here as both teams are in red hot form and Liverpool are at home. It’s hard to look past Manchester City though, especially when we are getting odds of over $2 for them. We like them to win in a high scoring match here.
TIP: Manchester City to win - $2.25 at Sportsbet
Manchester United vs Stoke City (Tuesday 7am AEDT)
Manchester United come into their Week 23 clash against Stoke on the back of a 2-0 win over Everton, but before that they hadn’t won an EPL game in three matches. The form slump saw them slip to just one point ahead of Chelsea on the table, and could be in danger of missing the top four should it continue.
After a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Chelsea a few rounds back, Stoke went on to lose their next two games in the Premier League as well, and now sit in the relegation zone along with West Brom and Swansea City.
Manchester United start as hot favourites here, and even after their recent form slump we think the $1.22 odds are about right at Old Trafford. Neither team has been particularly hot in front of goal lately, scoring just eight goals between them in their last four games each. We think the under is the best bet here.
TIP: Total goals UNDER 2.5 - $2.32 at CrownBet
