The 2016-17 A-league season continues over the New Years weekend and we've got you covered with best bets for Round 13 which kicks off Friday night as the Roar travel to Sydney.
A-League Round 12 Betting Tips
Sydney FC vs Brisbane Roar (Friday 7.50pm AEST)
The Sky Blues are continuing to dominate the competition and are remarkably undefeated heading into round 13 of the A-league season. It is a testament to their defence that they have only conceded 5 goals across these long stretch and have found the back of the net a league leading 29 times. They were able to achieve the feat four times on the weekend in a dominating performance on the road against the Reds.
They are facing off against the Roar who are sitting in second position on the ladder but the Victory still have an opportunity to leap frog them. The Roar were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against the Wanderers in a match that didn’t reach any great heights. They will have the benefit of a longer break but it won’t help them on the road against the competition leaders.
TIP: Sydney FC to win – $1.75 at Sportsbet
Central Coast Mariners vs Melbourne City (Saturday 7pm AEST)
These two sides will be looking to enter the new year on a high after multiple disappointments. City have been by far the better team of these two this year and are the deserved winners of the FFA Cup. However, consistency has been their downfall this year and that was evident in their match against the Glory at home. Bruno Fornaroli has been the hero for City on a lot of occasions over the past two seasons but it wasn’t to be for him as he missed two penalties on the night that were saved by goalkeeper Liam Reddy. It would have given the side all three competition points.
Meanwhile the Mariners will be facing off with the Victory on Wednesday night and depending on their performance and whether they come out injury free, will be the determinant of our tip. However, we are suggesting you jump on City with the early odds as the Mariners have a short turn around and are a very poor side.
TIP: HT/FT – City/City – $2.17 at CrownBet
Wellington Phoenix vs Adelaide United (Sunday 5.35pm AEST)
The Reds title defence has continued to worsen throughout the year and it hasn’t got much worse than their 4-0 defeat on home soil against Sydney FC. Adelaide has now conceded the second most amount of goals of any team in the league while they have found the back of the net on the least amount of occassions. The side is in disarray and they don’t look like picking up their second win of the season on a tough road trip.
The Phoenix will feel hard done by after they held the lead twice in their 2-2 draw against the Jets. They side is beginning to find its feet and it was a positive for the team to see Kosta Barbarouses find the back of the net as the winger is vital for the side to revitalise their season. We are predicting the home side to earn the three competition points in this one as the Reds struggle to find an answer.
TIP: Phoenix to win – $2.25 at Ladbrokes
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Perth Glory (Sunday 7.50pm AEST)
The Wanderers should be known as the kings of the draw as they earned their seventh one pointer of the season against the Roar. It was a vital point for the side that is on a downward spiral and they would be pleased with earning competition points against a tough team on the road.
The Glory would be feeling the same and it is an important match for both clubs as they sit on 13 competition points apiece. The Glory has been the better side this year but their defensive issues will be troubling. Meanwhile the Wanderers aren’t much better at the back themselves. The Glory have been better in front of goal and we are backing this to be the ultimate reason the Glory earn the tough win on the road.
TIP: Glory to win – $4.00 at William Hill
Melbourne Victory vs Newcastle Jets (Monday 7.50pm AEST)
Even though the Jets weren’t able to earn their third consecutive victory, they are still currently showing strong form. They are playing at a higher level than what was expected of them at the beginning of the season and their injury troubles are beginning to be put behind them. They are sitting in the top six and showed great character to come back from a deficit twice against the Phoenix to earn a draw. Andrew Nabbout had a strong performance and his goal involved a solo run and beating two defenders.
However, they are up against a Victory side that will be playing its second straight game at home and we believe will be victors of a white wash against the Mariners. The side has begun to regain its best form and this could be a tough match for the Jets on the road.
TIP: HT/FT – Victory/Victory – $2.05 at CrownBet
