The 2016-17 A-league season continues this weekend and so do our A-League betting tips as we have our Round 10 preview. It should be a big round with the teams getting close throughout the middle of the ladder.
A-League Round 10 Betting Tips
Sydney FC vs Melbourne City (Friday 7.50pm AEST)
Round 10 of the A-league kicks off with a blockbuster match between the top two sides on the ladder. To add a lot of fire to the match, Melbourne City claimed the FFA Cup final just two weeks ago. The Sky Blues were outclassed in that match as City created the majority of chances and held onto possession. However, the structure of Sydney FC prevented City from adding more goals to the score line.
City are one of the best attacking sides in the competition, but they struggle with consistency throughout season. They limped to a 1-1 draw against the Roar on the weekend and on home soil. Sydney FC will have the advantage due to their home field, while they bounced back to winning ways against the Newcastle Jets. We are predicting the two sides to play an entertaining match with them splitting the points - .

Wellington Phoenix vs Central Coast Mariners (Saturday 5.35pm AEST)
The Mariners may not be on the bottom of the table this season but they definitely played like it on the weekend. They lost 4-1 to the Wanderers on home soil and it will be tough for them to lift for a trip to New Zealand. The side is young and inexperienced but they have shown signs of improvement throughout the year.
Meanwhile the Phoenix are on the bottom of the table and haven’t lived up to the expectations the side had on them preseason. If they are going to kick start their season then they have a great opportunity to do so this weekend. These two sides met just over a month ago and it was the Phoenix who came away with a convincing victory. The Mariners opportunities were few and far between while the Phoenix carved the Mariners defence to pieces. The Phoenix were also without the majority of their stars who were playing for the New Zealand international side. We are predicting the home team to win this one convincingly.
TIP: Phoenix to win - $1.65 at Ladbrokes
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne Victory (Saturday 7.50pm AEST)
The Wanderers will enter this match after their biggest win of the year. They made easy work of the Mariners on the road 4-1 and it will have lifted the confidence of the team. However, it is a otugh challenge for them this weekend as they take on the Melbourne Victory. These two sides have had a lot of tight battles in the past and we are predicting a similar result in this one. The Wanderers are just holding onto sixth position on the ladder and they have a lot of defensive issues that need to be fixed before they can be considered to be a strong side.
The Victory was disappointing on the weekend as they looked to be turning a corner. However, their lacklustre performance against the Glory ended in a draw. We are predicting the side will lift for this one and will earn a one-goal win.
TIP: Victory to win - $2.75 at Sportsbet
Perth Glory vs Newcastle Jets (Saturday 10pm AEST)
The Jets have a lot of troubles at the moment. They are without a lot of key players and they aren’t playing well on the field. They suffered their fifth loss of the season on the weekend and they have just one win to their name. They have dropped to second last on the ladder and we can’t see them putting on a strong performance on the road and with a tough trip to Perth.
Meanwhile the Glory remain to be one of the most inconsistent teams in the A-league. They managed to pick up an important draw on the weekend against the Victory on the road. This was a week after an embarrassing loss to the Mariners. However, they are always a tough side to beat on their home soil and we are expecting them to earn a comfortable victory against the Jets.
TIP: Glory to win - $1.68 at CrownBet
Brisbane Roar vs Adelaide United (Sunday 5pm AEST)
Round 10 of the A-league wraps up with the Roar hosting Adelaide United who grabbed their first win of the season on the weekend. It took them until round nine of the 2015-16 season to earn a win and they went on to become minor premierships and champions. However, there is next to no chance of that miracle repeating itself. The squad is no where near as strong as it was and the side won’t be able to go on that type of streak.
The Roar grabbed a solid draw on the road in Melbourne against City on the weekend and they remain a tough side to beat. They have just one loss to their name this year and their defence is the second best in the league. However, the side struggles to find the back of the net which has prevented them from having more success. That shouldn’t be an issue this weekend though against the Reds side that has struggled defensively and we believe they will win on their home ground.
TIP: Roar to win - $2.00 at Sportsbet
