2015 NFL: Week 8 Preview & Betting Tips

October 29th 2015, 7:12pm, By: Johnny Houston

It feels like just yesterday that the 2015 NFL season was kicking off, but alas, we have reached the halfway mark as we offer up our NFL Week 8 preview and betting tips.

_ _ _

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots (Friday, October 30 at 11.25am AEST)

Thursday night football we have the undefeated Patriots hosting the 3-3 Miami Dolphins. The Patriots are favoured by 8 points with the total currently sitting at 51.0.

There are a number of factors going against the Patriots in terms of covering the 8 points. The Patriots are playing their second game in five days against a division rival that’s has won two straight, after sacking head coach Joe Philbin.

Tom Brady will also have to face one of the better pass defenses in the league which makes me think the Pats will run the ball against the 31st ranked Dolphins run defense. So with that being said I believe the Patriots will win in a lower than average scoring game.
Tip: Miami Dolphins at the line (+8.0) - $1.90 at Sportsbet
Total Game Score Under 50.5 - $2.00 at CrownBet

Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys (Monday, October 2 at 8.25am AEST)

The Seahawks will be hoping they can get some momentum going after grabbing a 20-3 victory against the 49ers in week 7. While the Dallas Cowboys have lost four straight after losing quarterback Tony Romo.

I just can’t see a way that the Dallas Cowboys can win this game. Their quarterback Matt Cassell looked terrible against a bad defense (NYG) and now he will face a Seattle defense that looked very sharp in week 7. The only strategy the Cowboys can adopt is running the ball with Darren McFadden but the Seahawks allow just 94 yards on the ground and I’m guessing a whole lot less if they know it’s coming.
Tip: Seattle Seahawks at the line (-6.0) - $1.92 at CrownBet

Green Bay Packers at Denver Broncos (Monday, October 2 at 12:30pm AEST)

A Sunday night primetime matchup between two undefeated teams featuring two hall of fame quarterbacks.

The 6-0 Green Bay Packers have looked and played like super bowl favourites however they haven’t faced a top team such as the Denver Broncos (also 6-0)obviously tonight’s game will provide a very good gauge at where these two teams are actually at.

The Broncos have the number 1 ranked defense allowing just 1688 total yards. Although I question this stat and tonight’s game will show that.

The Packers are known for having an amazing quarterback and Offense although their defense is often forgotten about and they are actually a very stout defense. Ranking 11th overall allowing 2130 yards and although they allow more yards than Denver they actually allow just 16.8 points per game compared to Denver who allow 17 points per game.

I believe Denver is very lucky to be 6-0 and Green Bay will make a statement at Mile High stadium.
Tip: Green Bay Packers at the line (-3.0) - $2.00 at CrownBet

Indianapolis Colts at Carolina Panthers (Tuesday, October 3 at 12:30pm AEST)

Monday night football has two divisional leaders doing battle. AFC South leaders the Indianapolis Colts travel to Carolina and face the undefeated NFC South Panthers. It’s hard to believe the Colts are on top with a losing record (3-4) but that’s how bad the AFC South is at the moment. Meanwhile the Carolina Panthers are 6-0 and playing some old school “punch them in the mouth” style football and I love watching this style of football.

Carolina will welcome the last ranked (32nd) defense in the country with the Colts allowing 24.9 points per game.

The Colts will not be looking forward to the Panthers number 5 ranked rushing attack that have been consistently  putting up 27 points per game. The line started in favour of the Panthers at 5.5 and is now sitting at 7. I am not 100% confident the Panthers can cover although I think they will win and their should be plenty of points scored.
Tip: Colts / Panthers Total Game Score Over 4.65 - $1.95 at CrownBet
