Golden State Warriors vs Cleveland Cavaliers (Tuesday 11am AEST)
The Warriors have a 3-1 advantage and no team has ever overcame that deficit in the NBA Finals and there has been 32 occasions when a team has been leading 3-1. However, in a massive blow for the Warriors they will be without their all-star Draymond Green for game 5 after he was given his fourth flagrant foul of the playoffs which is an automatic suspension after he was deemed to have inappropriately hit Lebron James during a scuffle in game 4. This isn’t the first time Green has found himself in the headlines for foul play and his presence will be missed on the court. Green not only has a massive impact on the offence where he averages 15 points per game throughout the playoffs and constantly controls the ball as sharpshooters Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry run behind screens to get open but he will also be missed on the defensive end. He is the key piece to the side when they play small ball as he defends the centre and pushes the ball up the court on the break.
It is a massive loss for the Warriors, which means it is a huge gain for the Cavaliers as there is less of a threat on both ends of the court. Their match ups will also benefit as the Warriors will struggle to go small which will play into the hands of the Cavaliers. The East Champions were winning through three quarters but ran out of gas in the fourth as the Warriors ran away with game 4 to take the commanding lead. They have been nearly impossible to beat at the Oracle arena and have only lost there three times all season. However, the one match they played without Green this year ended in a loss and with him sitting on the sidelines it will give the Cavs a lot of belief whilst it will hinder the confidence of the Warriors. This has us leading towards the Cavaliers in this one, as they will send the Finals series to a sixth game.
