Friday Night Football - Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles VS. Sydney Roosters
When: Friday, June 27th at 7:40pm AEST
Where: Brookvale Oval, Brookvale
Bill Medley said it best in his 1991 hit song "Friday Night's A Great Night for Football", and this week is no exception as Manly takes on the Roosters at Brookvale Oval. This is a bit of a blockbuster game with Manly in first on the ladder, sitting a game clear of the Roosters in fourth place.
But that’s not the only indicator of how this game will go. These two teams met in the Grand Final last year where we saw the Roosters crowned Premiers after defeating the Sea Eagles 26-18, and earlier this year we saw the Eagles get one over the Roosters with a 8-0 victory in round 4.
The last 5 times these teams met the Rooster have been victorious 4 times, and this week we're not expecting anything different.
The Roosters are in Fantastic form, entering this game on a 4 game winning streak, and are welcoming back back-rower Boyd Cordner. As a team the rooster know how to break the line. While James Maloney might like to BBQ alone, he LOVES to assist in a line break, which could be very dangerous for the Sea Eagles.
The Sea Eagles, on the other hand, are coming off two good weeks, starting with their second Bye, and then last week absolutely steamrolling the Sharks 26-0. Daly Cheery-Evans’ knee is still a concern, but it doesn't seem to be worrying him. Manly is notoriously hard to beat at home and there’s no chance they'll make it easy for the Roosters.
As long as the Rooster can do what the rest of us do and simply just ignore the Manly fans, they should get up in a close one.
