2014 NFL: Week 12 Preview and Betting Picks

NFL Betting Tips

Week 11 of the 2014 NFL season was another successful week. Let’s see if we can continue picking winners this weekend. Be sure to read on and check out our NFL Week 12 preview and free NFL betting picks.

Kansas City Chiefs Vs. Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders are terrible.

The End.

Jokes aside this TNF matchup will actually play a supporting role in the interesting AFC West outcome, I’ll explain later.

Oakland is ranked last in a lot of categories. Their defense is woeful and their offense is worse. On the other hand Kansas is right in it and battling Denver for top spot in the AFC West. Kansas are ranked 4th in rushing with 141.2 YPG thanks to Jamaal Charles who is having a Steller season. Charles has 692 yards at 5.2 yards per carry and 8 touchdowns to go with it. He gets to go up against the 26th ranked run defense. Oakland allows about 130 yards each and every game.

Oakland’s quarterback Derek “it’s time to go” Carr is a turn over machine; he is also very sore and has been very limited in practice this week. The bad news for Carr is the Kansas defense is ranked number 1 against passing and although on paper it may look like you can run the ball against Kansas I’m here to tell you Oakland won’t be able to.

Kansas has not allowed a single touchdown on the ground! And if this trend continues it will be something very special. Something that has never been done before in the NFL. Not that Oakland can run the ball anyway, they are ranked dead last in that category averaging only 63 yards of offense on the ground.

SO WHY IS THIS NOT A 3 STAR PICK?

Kansas coach Andy Reid is not silly. Kansas find themselves in a massive “look ahead” situation as they will face division rivals the Denver Broncos at home next week. A game that will most likely be for top spot in the AFC West. Coach Reid said “everyone is expected to do some work at practice, but not everyone will be available” hence we will rest players for next week’s important game.

This game is not rated 3 stars for that reason. But it sure is close.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts (Monday at 5:00am AEST Monday)

The best versus the worst in this AFC South divisional game.

Indianapolis colts (6 -4) host the Jacksonville jaguars (1-9).

The colts will be looking to make a mends after dropping a game to the patriots last week. They are back at Lucas Oil stadium this week and probably owe the fans a big performance.

Hopefully the colts were paying attention to the Kansas – Oakland game and they realise what happens when a good team takes a really bad team lightly.

Jacksonville’s solo win came against Cleveland on October 20. They are coming off a bye as they travelled to London two weeks ago and were blown out by the Dallas Cowboys. Blake Bortles is slowly showing signs of improvement but I believe this is a really tricky spot for him.

Watch for Indianapolis colts to flex some offensive muscle in this game. It’s a lot of chalk to cover but colts win this game 42-20.

Miami Dolphins at Denver Broncos (Monday at 8:25am AEST Monday)

They say momentum is everything in sport, if this statement is true then Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos are in big trouble. Miami is 4-1 over their last 5 games and that one loss was a very close loss to Detroit in the final three minutes. They have a legitimate defence and I believe Manning will have his work cut out for him today. Miami only allow 223.5 yards in the air (ranked 1st).

Denver has some big injuries including Julius Thomas, Emanuel Sanders and Montee Ball. These are all Manning’s go to guys.

Miami getting 7 points is great value in this one.

Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants (Monday at 12:30pm AEST Monday)

America’s team versus the New York Football Giants is Sunday Night Football’s match up at MetLife stadium. Dallas is coming off the bye week after beating up Jacksonville in London. I believe Dallas is going to be one of those teams that come out stronger after the bye week. They have a tough run of games coming up especially the two against Philadelphia. They won’t take this game lightly.

Look for all of the key Cowboys (Romo, Murray and Bryant) to have big-big games.

The Giants have been softened up by Seattle and San Francisco.

The Cowboys are the only undefeated road team in the NFL.

Stay Tuned for previews and betting tips for the following game:

Baltimore Ravens at New Orleans Saints (Tuesday at 12:20pm AEST Tuesday)

Monday Night Football is back. The Baltimore Ravens head into the Super dome as 3 point underdogs as Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints look for their 5th win. Somehow the Saints sit atop the NFC South with just four wins. That’s how bad the NFCS is. In fact NFC South teams are 1-9-1 against AFC North teams. This is great news for the visiting Ravens.

Baltimore has been an undervalued team in 2014. They are 6-3 ATS in their last 9 games. They are still very much “in the hunt” as far as playoff scenarios go. To be honest I haven’t watched a lot of the Ravens this season but I do know they have a head coach that the players believe in and will play 4 quarters for (An underrated handicapping angle)

New Orleans has problems on defense and last week they added to their problems with safety Rafael Bush ending his season. Now it seems the saints will turn to an un-drafted rookie to fill in at safety. A point of interest for quarterback Joe “the arm” Flacco.

The saint’s special teams have been anything but special this season. I believe I read somewhere that the saints haven’t scored a touchdown on special teams in three years.

Drew Brees is 0-3 against the Baltimore Ravens, the only team in the NFL he has not beaten. ooooooOooooh spooky. Give me points on the road in a game that I believe Ravens could win SU.
