Last week was great for our NFL betting as we had a clean sweep on Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully we can continue the run this weekend. Make sure to check out Before You Bet’s 2014 NFL Week 10 preview and free NFL betting picks.
Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals (Friday at 12:25pm AEST)
First place is up for grabs in the AFC North in a very important 2014 NFL week 10 match up as the Cleveland Browns take on the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown stadium in Ohio. Two average teams. Two average quarterbacks. Cincinnati roared into the 2014 season but in recent weeks they have showed their true stripes. They weren’t impressive against Jacksonville and only just got there against Baltimore at home.
The Cleveland Browns are also doing it tough. The Browns’ offensive line have had a rocket fired up their behind after a lacklustre performance against Tampa Bay. The Browns only managed to rush for 50 yards and will need to turn that around against Cincy.
No Johnny Manziel. No worries.
Coach Mike Pettine is doing an outstanding job. Grinding out wins and fighting off temptation to put rookie quarterback Manziel in at the first sign of trouble. Pettine obviously has faith in quarterback Brian Hoyer who is getting the job done.
The Browns are 6-3-1 ATS in their last 10 games against division rivals the Bengals. I like Cleveland in this Thursday Night Football matchup getting 6.5-7.0 points. For our money we are getting a higher rated quarterback on paper as Hoyer has a QBR of 90.3 compared to Dalton’s 88.3. We also get a better overall defense as the Browns allow 391.8 yards vs Cincy’s 394.9.
We are also leaning towards the OVER as this seems to be the trend for TNF.
San Francisco 49ers at New Orleans Saints (Monday at 5:00am AEST)
The 49ers will take on the Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The 49ers will face a very tough home team and a team that is improving every week. The Saints are 11-0 straight up in their last eleven games at the Dome and also a very healthy 9-1-1 ATS. Drew Brees and the Saints have put up 72 points over the last two weeks as Bree’s has thrown for 608 yards with five touchdowns.
The 49ers are currently 4-4 and with Arizona taking control of the NFC West and Seattle also above them the 49ers must be feeling down and out. The 49ers Offensive line is probably their biggest problem and now with 20 year old rookie center Marcus Martin in control (who doesn’t look up to NFL standards just yet) everything will get tougher for quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Saints are looking great. The Defense is playing much better. Drew Bree’s has an excellent Offensive Line in front of him, they have all the momentum and they do not lose at home. Saints -5.0 is good value.
New York Giants at Seattle Seahawks (Monday at 8:25am AEST)
Perception is everything in this game. Seattle is still the reigning super bowl champs and has that distinctive home crowd advantage and the Giants are an average team and just got blown out in front of a national audience against the Colts. The last time these two teams met Seattle had a shutout victory 23-0 on December 15th. So the line opening at -9.0 (SEA) shouldn’t surprise. However the Seahawks have not been blowing teams out this season and have also lost three games including one at home. They are not the POWER-HOUSE they were last year.
Seattle should take care of business at home but the Giants should play loose and aggressive. Giants getting 9 points in a tough road game is risky but let’s go against the grain and “take the smart girl to the Prom for once”
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers (Monday at 12:30pm AEST)
If Football was a comic book and Jay Cutler was somehow the “Superman” then the Green Bay Packers would be his kryptonite. Cutler is an embarrassing 1-9 against the Packers throwing for 19 interceptions.
I do believe Cutler has the ability to put points on the board in this game but the Bears defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed.
This comic book would probably make more sense if the Superman was Aaron Rogers as he owns an 11-2 record against the Bears. He did tweak his hamstring against the Saints but has had the bye week to recover. So I guess the Saints are his kryptonite in this story.
Chicago Bears will be playing the role of Lex Luthor Sunday Night and we all know how it ends for him.

*Carolina Panthers at Philadelphia Eagles (Tuesday at 12:30pm AEST)
Two teams that are heading in opposite directions. The 6-2 Eagles will host the 3-5-1 Panthers in this Monday Night Football matchup. The big headline for this game is that the Eagles will be without quarterback Nick Foles. Stepping in for Foles is Mark Sanchez. The football public seem to be split in the decision of whether or not this will be an upgrade. I believe with Coach Chip Kelly that it doesn’t really matter who is playing quarterback. Coach Kelly’s Offensive systems seem to elevate whoever is playing at the quarterback position and I would also expect most of the Offense to go through running back LeSean McCoy. Especially with Carolina’s defensive front that are ranked 26thagainst the run.
The panthers started the season 2-0 but over their last seven games they have only won one game. They are a very one dimensional team that relies too much on their quarterback to bail them out of trouble all the time. The 2013 “coach of the year” Ron Rivera doesn’t seem to have the answers this year.
Coach Kelly on the other hand is flying high. He just wins. Kelly posted a ridiculous 86% college win rate and his NFL numbers are starting to reflect that at 16-9 for 64%. There is a reason he is one of only three NFL coaches that have either the title or powers of a general manger ( along with Bill Belicheck and Pete Carroll). So you know your money is in good hands. This line opened at -5.5(PHI) and is up to -7.0 at most books. I have no problem laying a touchdown.
