Round 6 of the 2014 AFL season was a great week of footy. It started with a massive ANZAC Day clash between Collingwood and Essendon and the action didn’t ease up all weekend right up to Geelong’s somewhat surprising defeat at the hands of Port Adelaide. Hopefully this week will be just as exciting! Make sure to check out Before You Bet’s 2014 AFL Round 7 preview, betting tips and tipping advice below.
2014 AFL Round 7 Preview
Another Friday night, another blockbuster game. This time it’s Collingwood Magpies Vs. Carlton Blues, with the Pies playing on a Friday night, just for a change. The Blues have definitely shown huge improvement over the last few weeks and had that massive win against the Eagles last week. However, they are playing the redhot Magpies at the MCG on a Friday. The Blues will be competitive, but the Magpies should ultimately be too strong. With a bit of wet weather around, leaning towards the Pies Under 39.5.
Saturday’s first four games look a little more cut and dry. Firstly we have Hawthorn Hawks Vs. St. Kilda Saints and we (and the rest of the footy world) expect an easy Hawks victory. It will be a similar story for the Power in the Port Adelaide Power Vs. GWS Giants and while the Demons will be competitive, we expect a Crows victory in the Adelaide Crows Vs. Melbourne Demons game. We then cross up to Queensland on Saturday night for Brisbane Lions Vs. Sydney Swans and expect the Swans to easily overcome the Lions.
The final game on Saturday – Essendon Bombers Vs. Western Bulldogs - is a bit more interesting. There is a bit of talk around town that the Bulldogs could upset the Dons, but with such a good record against the Bulldogs and a little more class, we expect the Dons to come away with a victory in a competitive game.
Sunday’s first game Nth Melbourne Kangaroos Vs. Gold Coast could be a great game. Generally the Roos have been the hardest team to bet on this year, but we are hoping that changes this weekend. The Roos are coming off a Perth travel week and a tough game against the Dockers, so they will be a little weary. They will still win, but it’s for this reason, along with the Suns’ form, that we are happy to take the Kangaroos in a close one.
The Geelong Cats Vs. Richmond Tigers game is a hard one to bet. We expect an easy victory from the Cats, but with a big line and never knowing which Tigers we are going to get we think it’s best to stay away. West Coast Eagles Vs. Fremantle Dockers on the other hand is a bit more interesting. Historically these showdowns are kept close and the Dockers have won the last three. The Dockers are in need of some confidence and this is the perfect game to get some. Barlow is on the extended bench and if he plays, this makes the Dockers’ case even stronger.
