The 2014 AFL season just keeps throwing more curve balls at us as exciting football continues to keep us busy each and every weekend. That’s sure to continue this week with a huge amount of tight games on the agenda. Be sure to check out our Round 4 AFL preview, betting tips and tipping advice below!
2014 AFL Round 4 Preview
Round 4 of the 2014 AFL season kicks off with a big Friday night game that will sure to keep punters happy – Richmond Vs. Collingwood. The Tigers got thumped the last time these two played in the same round of last year and while we don’t expect that to happen again, the Pies are in better form (which says a lot about Richmond’s form) and with Deledio a likely out again, the Pies should win by a goal or two.
We will skip over the Carlton Vs. Melbourne match as it’s pretty clear to us that the Blues will win easily. Port Adelaide Vs. Brisbane is a little more interesting. We think the Power should win this game, but the 36.5 point line is too high to speculate. Don’t be surprised if Brisbane are able to keep it within four goals.
The GWS Vs. Western Bulldogs game is probably the toughest match of the week. The GWS have improved hugely from last year, but we think they are starting to maybe be a bit overhyped. They are tackling more than any of the team in the league which is a huge plus, but with the Bulldogs showing some of their late form of 2013 last week against the Tigers, we expect them to be able to take care of GWS by at least a goal or two. Will be an interesting game.
Hawthorn Vs. Gold Coast should be pretty cut and dry. The Hawks have Hodge coming back into the side and they showed us last week against the Dockers that they still have it. The 24.5 line is just about right though, so it’s a tough game to bet.
It’s going to be very tough for the Eagles this week in the Geelong Vs. West Coast game. It’s at Simonds Stadium firstly, secondly the Cats are very good and thirdly listen to likely these outs for the Eagles: LeCras, Masten, Wellingham, Shuey, Glass. The Cats should win by six goals plus.
Another interesting Round 4 match is Sydney Vs. North Melbourne. It’s in Sydney and the Swans did show a lot last week, but I don’t think enough to be $1.35 favourites against the Roos. In saying that, we are leaning towards the Swans, but in a closer one than expected. The last time these two played, the Swans won by eight goals. It won’t happen again, but the Swans should win.
St Kilda Vs. Adelaide will be another one of the close matches, with the Crows severely lacking in form and confidence and the Saints doing better than even they would have expected, but still lacking in class. The Crows should win. The tough matches don’t stop here with Fremantle Vs. Essendon being another one of the evenly matched games. The Dockers were awful last week and that’s probably because they are so rife with injuries. The news doesn’t get better this week as plenty of their team’s foundation are still out. Essendon also have a good record at Patersons Stadium, winning their last game there against the Dockers by four points. Too tough to call, but a great game to watch closely.
