Round 1 of the 2014 AFL season was tough. We recommended not having too much of a punt considering that there were so many unknowns, and in hindsight, this was the best decision possible.
Having a bet on Round 2 is a little different. We have seen the teams, seen what the coaches are trying to do and seen what players are capable of. However, we do still suggest to not go too crazy betting in the early stages of the season. Instead, take advantage of some of the highly valuable AFL betting promotions on offer. This is where we will find a true edge early in the year and as we move forward and get a real idea of where teams are at, we can find more value in line betting and the like.
AFL Round 2 Betting Tips
Best Bets
Right off the top, get on the Sportingbet Round 2 Multi Special. Basically, Sportingbet are offering enhanced odds of $4 on a multi involving the winner of Thursday night’s Richmond Vs. Carlton game into the Hawks to beat Essendon on Friday night. We are fairly confident on the Hawks, so that just leave picking the winner of Thursday’s game. We are leaning towards Richmond, with Walker out of the Blues side and the Tigers loving the MCG, having won 6 of their last 8 there. Yes, the Blues have won the last 11 of 12 meetings with the Tigers, but the Blues were outclassed to the max against Port Adelaide last week, while the Tigers went down to a very tough Suns up in the Gold Coast. The Tigers will bounce back harder in a close game against the Blues.
Bet On: Tigers / Hawks at Sportingbet enhanced Multi - $4-1
Speaking of Sportingbet, we are also very happy to take on their Money Back Special for the Hawks Vs. Essendon game. Basically, if the team you bet on, head-to-head, loses but kicks 12 goals or more, you will have your money refunded up to $100. We are happy to take the small odds of Hawks at $1.45 here with this promotion. The Hawks kicked less than 12 goals on two occasions last year. Just twice. They looked solid last week and the Dons are a little overhyped after having beaten the Roos who quite frankly looked like the Demons of 2013.
Bet On: Hawks head-to-head at Sportingbet (12 goal Money back promotion)

Before You Bet Round 2 tipping advice
Thousands of people who don’t like betting on the AFL still enter tipping competitions in the office, on the worksite or in their local pubs. We will be letting our readers know who we are tipping each week and keeping a running tally. This isn’t betting advice, just those teams that we think will win. Tipping is all about bragging rights and we are hoping to bag a few 9/9 before the season is over.
We struggled last week, just like we believe many would have! Hopefully we can bounce back with a better score in Round 2. There a couple of tough games which we could change our minds once we get our wallets out for a punt, but when it comes to tipping you have to get them in before the round begins, so here we go.
Richmond (Vs. Carlton)
Hawthorn (Vs. Essendon)
Saints (Vs. GWS)
Port Adel (Vs. Adelaide)
Fremantle (Vs. Gold Coast)
Sydney (Vs. Collingwood)
