Tim Geers is keen to get stuck in and find some winners to kick things off and he's provided his four best bets of the day below!
Sha Tin Racing Tips: Sunday, September 6th
(2) Winston’s Lad won his last two starts at the end of last season and may be able to get away with a third one here. He only raced 10 weeks ago so he’s going to have the residual fitness necessary, and he races very well when first up from a break, never finishing out of the top two from three starts. He rises in weight from his last win but he might be able to steal this race with a good draw key to helping him. With $5.00/$2.00 available he looks a good each way bet.
This is a competitive Class 4 over the 1000m straight trip. It’s interesting to see Purton booked for the debutant (10) Sure Sure Win. He’s trialled the horse twice in preparation for his raceday debut today and that’s always a good sign. I’m quite surprised United We Stand is the $2.90 favourite coming into this off a dominant win in easier class. This is a competitive field and he rises in grade so he looks well and truly short enough. Happy to have something each way on Sure Sure Win at $9.00.
(4) Excellent Proposal was beaten a short-half-head on his Hong Kong debut, which came over 1200m. That was at the back end of last season so he’s only had nine weeks since that run and today he lines up over 1400m rather than the shorter trip. He’s drawn well and with Joao Moreira on for John Size, he looks very hard to beat if he has taken improvement from his last start run. (5) Regency Bo Bo is the value bet in the race at double figure odds. He was undefeated first up from a spell before he ran last prep, when he dropped the rider. Purton was on that day and sticks with him for his first up run today, which is an encouraging sign. Draws well and expecting a big run.
Value: (5) Regency Bo Bo $11
(4) Excellent Proposal
$2.40
(5) Super Wealthy has had four starts in Hong Kong, resulting in three wins and a 2nd. He won over this track and distance in this same class at the end of last prep and it’s hard to say he can’t keep winning given he’s the veteran of just five starts. He’s just had the one trial leading into his first up run today but I’m banking on the fact that I think he’s the best horse in the race, still with more to come. I’m surprised he’s not favourite and happy to back him at $3.70.
