Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday, August 12th 2023
Race 1: 3yo Bm72 – 1300m (11:35 AEST)
(2) Caballus looks like a highly capable 3yo having been desperately unlucky on debut not to win and then confirming that with a win 2nd up in stylish fashion. He’s well-found in this market but top pick and should be winning.
(1) The Little Pumper will likely lead this race and presents as the main danger to the favourite. If they go slow enough, this horse may be able to pinch it.
(4) Ganbare goes in as 3rd pick here having trialled well enough to be considered for minors. He would have to produce something special to win.
(2) Caballus - Win
$2.50 (2 Units)
Race 7: Bm78 C&G Hcp – 1400m (15:05 AEST)
(5) Freedom Rally is in a rich vein of form and comes down from the sunny state to race against a field of largely unimpressive Sydney horses. It’s hard to see this horse not finishing in the top few even if he’s unable to win.
(1) Excelladus is the 2nd pick here at decent odds. He’s been running well of late and had nowhere to go last start when strung up on the rail behind a wall of horses. James McDonald is on here and he won’t find much traffic from gate 10.
(3) Wategos also has a big weight to carry here after winning 2 in a row in this company. He’s drawn horribly and will need to overcome these factors to win but should be around the mark regardless.
(5) Freedom Rally - Win
$2.20 (5 Units)
Race 10: Bm78 Hcp – 1100m (16:55 AEST)
(13) Smashing Eagle should be favourite here. He was desperately unlucky not to thrash Mogo Magic last time who has dominated his racing this prep remaining undefeated. That form alone is enough here and with so much pressure up front, expect this horse to launch over the top late.
(8) Garza Blanca will be biding his time on the rail behind horses here and with enough room late should be threatening. I don’t trust him at such a short price though especially accounting for the risk of bad luck on the rail.
(1) Kir Royale ran 2nd in a Bm88 last start and comes back to Bm78 here. He goes up in weight but will find this a lot easier. Gate 8 makes things a little tricky but he’s not out of this.
(13) Smashing Eagle - E/W
$7/$2.10 (2 Units)
