Horse Racing Tips: Friday, September 25th
Scone Race 5 (Market)
I really like the Animal Kingdom gelding here in (4) Free Rider. First-up at Dubbo, he was slightly slow to begin and found himself at the back of the field before swinging to be the widest as they entered the straight. This wasn’t the place to be at Dubbo that afternoon especially being off-pace, but he did make solid ground without threatening running 31.92 from the 800m to the 200m before tiring a late but still running the fourth best last 200m split. He gets a nice draw to sit closer here unlike two of his closest rivals (3) Belle Reve who has drawn 14 and (5) Henschel who has drawn 13. He gets to drop 1.5kg off his last run and his second-up stat is good, running less than a length to the promising Toro Toro. If he brings his ‘A’ game, look out!
Scone Race 6 (Market)
I thought this horse was slightly over the odds here in (3) Aristograts. He has had one soft trial which he won nicely, and this will be his first start for Rod Northam coming from the Greg Hickman stable. Although this is a step up in class to his last run last preparation, he has proven he can compete well in better grades as he tackles his first race in the country. First-up last preparation, he won at Warwick Farm in a BM70 before finishing 0.2 lengths off Yonkers, two starts later at Canterbury. This is a wide-open affair with the favourite (6) More Sundays having his first start for his new stable also resuming. With only 7kg separating the top weight from the bottom, they have decided to put Greg Ryan on and carry the full 62kg. Despite the poor draw and the weight, he gets a good track and has a 50% strike rate first-up which gives us confidence he will be up to the mark. Playing this one each way with a small stake, but he could shake this race up.
Scone Race 8 (Market)
We are banking on another two scratchings and hope they don’t go to Rosehill on Saturday, but (17) Tempel One looks a very good bet if he runs. This is another wide-open race where his main rival (4) Ronan Rock has drawn well but has to carry 60kg whilst dropping back to 1400m. The Real Impact colt looks the one I want to be with after his maiden win two weeks ago over the 1300m here at Scone. He thrashed the field by 2.5 lengths and since then two horses have come out and won their next race. This looks a nice race to step into and getting a similar set-up to last start, he will give himself every hope in this race. If he runs, he will be the best bet of the day.
Goulburn Race 7 (Market)
She has not been far off in his career thus far but (3) Either Oar looks a good chance to crack the maiden. First-up at Kembla Grange, she was drawn out in 11 and got stuck 3 wide the trip and had the audacity to fight hard and finish third behind some good horses. That has been the story of her career to date with her other two starts meeting Andermatt and Peltzer. She steps back to country grade which is ideal, and she should show genuine improvement second up. She is drawn ideally in barrier 3 and will have to do little work to find the front or to sit handy. She will be mighty hard to hold out.
