ESports Betting Tips: Tuesday, September 22nd

Evil Geniuses vs Team Liquid – ESL Pro League Season 12 North America

Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid last met in the grand finals of ESL One Cologne 2020 North America, where EG secured a 3-2 victory over their regional rivals. EG started the series with a narrow 19-16 OT victory on Nuke, dropped the next map (Vertigo) with 9-16, struck back with 16-12 win on Inferno, lost on Mirage (9-16) and closed out the deal with 16-12 on Nuke.

It's worth mentioning that TL held a 9-6 HT lead in Nuke, but fell apart on CT-side, so while they ended up losing the game, it was by no means a one-sided victory for EG.

Ethan "Ethan" Arnold and Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte were the driving force behind Evil Geniuses' victory that day, both with over 100 frags and 1.17 and 1.11 HLTV ratings respectfully. On the side of Team Liquid, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski was undeniably the best player not only for his team but across the server with 128 frags and 1.40 HLTV rating! EliGE also produced high ratings on Vertigo (1.68), Inferno (1.23), Mirage (1.88) and Dust2 (1.70), but was unable to carry his team to victory.

The H2H record favours Evil Geniuses, but I feel like it's only a matter of time before the balance of power tips into Team Liquid's favour. Since TL signed Michael "Grim" Wince they're looking much stronger whereas EG are slowly starting to slump, which suggests we are in for another close affair. Value bet on Team Liquid!

Gen.G vs Cloud9 – ESL Pro League Season 12 North America

It's hard to say which of the two teams is worse at the moment which makes me believe that betting on a winner is a complete coin toss. Gen.G have not long ago lost their IGL Damian "daps" Steele and are currently playing with ex-Incognito player Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk as a stand-in. In other words, Gen.G are playing without a proper IGL and with a player of unknown quality.

Cloud9, on the other hand, have recently announced they will completely rebuild their CS:GO project and so far there have been no reports suggesting either of the current members will be offered a contract with the new team. The current players have, however, stated that they want to play together in the future, so it's fair to assume morale is not as low as it perhaps should be.

C9 and Gen.G are both in terrible form with only one win out of the last five games. Gen.G managed to defeat 100 Thieves but lost to the likes of Team Liquid, FURIA, Evil Geniuses and Chaos - all without winning a single map. Cloud9 managed a win against Triumph but lost to Team Liquid, Triumph, 100 Thieves and Chaos. On a more positive note, C9 at least managed three maps in their four losses.

Considering both teams are playing terribly, I don't expect to see an entertaining match, but I'm still confident Cloud9 are the better side and should defeat Gen.G. Expect a 2-0 victory for Cloud9!

FURIA vs Chaos – ESL Pro League Season 12 North America

The last time FURIA and Chaos met was just a couple of weeks ago during the ESL One Cologne 2020 North America where Chaos produced an upset 2-0 victory over the Brazilian squad. Chaos took the series lead with 16-11 on Nuke, but had to put in a lot more work on Inferno, where we saw double overtime, however, still managed to edge out a 22-19 victory to seal the series at 2-0.

Joshua "steel" Nissan was the best-rated player that day with 53 frags and 1.31 HLTV rating, while Henrique "HEN1" Teles emerged as the best-performing player on FURIA with 55 frags and 1.26 HLTV rating.

Since their last meeting Chaos parted ways with their IGL Joshua "steel" Nissan and replaced him with Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado, who is a better player than steel, but unfortunately, he is not an IGL. That role was given to Anthony "vanity" Malaspina, who is not an optimal replacement since he is definitely not as good of a leader than steel.

Since the news of steel's departure surfaced, I predicted Chaos to crumble and I must say I am impressed about how well they held on. Having said that, I don't expect Chaos to hold their own against top-tier teams such as FURIA, who are not only significantly better individually but will also be hungry to avenge their loss and put Chaos in their place. Bet on FURIA to demolish Chaos!
