Our Esports betting guru Michael Lee is back for his best bets from around the Esports world for Monday, August 31st 2020. Today, we head to the OMEGA League: Europe Divine Division, as well as the ESL One Thailand 2020: Asia tournaments. Check out his preview and Esports betting tips below.
Cyber Legacy vs Ninjas in Pyjamas - OMEGA League: Europe Divine Division
Cyber Legacy put up quite a convincing run through the group stage where they won all five of their fixtures to secure the top seed and a direct bye into the upper bracket playoffs. Now they're set to clash with Ninjas in Pyjamas for the second time in history and the first time since May.
Throughout the group stage, Cyber Legacy defeated EXTREMUM (2-0), TEMPO (2-0), Omegalil (2-0), Voldemort (2-1) and Khan (2-1) in quite a convincing fashion. Despite their flawless run, however, Cyber Legacy played only against second-tier squads, meaning they will need to show a bit more this Monday.
Ninjas in Pyjamas are entering this match with a 4-1 record from their last five which includes losses to Vikin.gg (1-2), OG (0-2), Team Secret (0-2), FlyToMoon (0-2), and a 2-0 win against Team Liquid. All of their last five games took place in the Immortal Division, where NiP failed to show up and got relegated, however, they had to play against the best teams from Europe, so perhaps they deserve some slack for their poor results.
On one side we have a team that is in great form but has only played against weaker teams and on the other, we have a squad that is 1-4, but had to play against some of the best teams in the world. This makes it hard to predict the winner, especially considering these two teams have yet to clash with their current roster.
Cyber Legacy are priced as the favourites, which is fair given that they have at least been winning their games, however, I find it hard to believe NiP are a team that will just roll over and die. It's difficult to imagine either team coming away with a clean sweep, so we have to go with an over 2.5 map bet.
Geek Fam vs Sparking Arrow Gaming - ESL One Thailand 2020: Asia
Geek Fam and Sparking Arrow Gaming will clash in the final round of ESL One Thailand 2020: Asia in a match that will guarantee one of the two sides a top-two seed, while the other will leave their seeding in the hands of Neon Esports and their performance agianst Question Mark in the final game of the day.
Throughout the competition, Geek Fam managed a perfect 3-0 record and equally impressive 6-2 map differential, which they achieved by defeating Question Mark (2-1), Aster.Aries (2-0) and T1 (2-0). Unfortunately, they slumped a bit in their recent match against neon Esports (0-2), bringing them down to 3-1. Sparking Arrow Gaming, on the other side hold 3-1 series record and a 6-3 map differential. They have defeated Aster.Aries (2-0), Neon Esports (2-0), and Question Mark (2-0), but fell apart against T1 (0-2) this Sunday.
Geek Fam and Sparking Arrow Gaming never met before, meaning we could be in for an interesting and close match, however, after seeing Sparking Arrow Gaming's lost to T1 in the fashion they did, we have no hope they can outmuscle Geek Fam, who bear in mind, won ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League just over a month ago.
T1 vs Aster.Aries - ESL One Thailand 2020: Asia
T1 are entering this match following a commanding 2-0 win over Sparking Arrow Gaming this Sunday, which keeps their dreams of reaching the post-season alive, however, for that to happen, they still need to defeat Aster.Aries, who could eliminate them from the competition entirely.
T1 began their journey through ESL One Thailand 2020: Asia with a 1-2 loss to Neon Esports, to which they added a clean 2-0 win against Question Mark, a 1-2 loss to Geek Fam and most recently a 2-0 win against Sparking Arrow Gaming. Aster.Aries, on the other side, managed a poor 1-3 record with a win against Question Mark (2-1) and three losses against Sparking Arrow Gaming (0-2), Geek Fam (0-2) and Neon Esports (0-2).
T1 and Aster.Aries never met before, but based on their recent performances, it's not difficult to figure out which of the two is the favourite. Even though T1 have not shown anything remarkable, their wins against SAG and Question Mark can easily be ranked higher than Aster.Aries' sole narrow win against Question Mark.
There is still a possibility this match could go the distance, but unless Aster.Aries outperform themselves, the only reasonable expectation for this match is a 2-0 win for T1. Bet on T1 to win without losing a map!
