Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, April 21st
Ballarat Race 2 - (Market)
(9) Mzuri Star has only had one start, she debuted at Sale back around Christmas time over 1000m. She got back in the run and ran through the line well. She was sent straight to the paddock and resumes today after one jump-out at Caulfield. After beginning fairly, she was given time to settle before improving out wide on the track. She stuck with the winner of the heat throughout and was never hustled, I expect that first-up from the middle draw and out to the 1100m, she should settle a lot closer. A replay of that jump-out can be found here (yellow with the black cap). She looks a great each-way bet to nothing.
Ballarat Race 4 - (Market)
(5) Billie De Lune debuted at the Bool back in February, she was a very short-priced fave and after sitting up outside the speed, stuck on ok but did have every chance. She then had 6-weeks off before going to Cranbourne last start, again she was favourite after being well backed late into an SP of $2.60. Again, she sat up on the speed but off the rail, was a little one-paced and again to be beaten just over a length. I like the jockey change going from Allen to McNeil and stepping up a furlong in trip, she will be looking for the top early. She has the good SP profile but this will be her last chance in this column if she doesn’t get it done. (11) Our Guardian Angel has opened favourite but I have to be against her, she does get a huge jockey change with Willow taking over but she will be giving our tip a start and thought she was very poor last start after having the gun run in transit.
Scone Race 3 - (Market)
(4) The Premier is a 6-start maiden that has placed on three of those occasions, he has a wide draw to overcome but I think that may just result in us getting a better price. He showed good tactical speed at his first prep before going to the paddock and has had one run back. At Scone earlier this month, he resumed over the 1400m here at the track, was perfectly ridden behind the speed and although he was ok through the line for second, had every possible chance. The speed was strong early and he had the sit on the winner, after looming up to win just before the furlong pole, may have just run out of condition late. He has the wide draw but only needs cover on the big track, I think he will be a lot stronger in the run home.

Scone Race 5 - (Market)
(4) Ski Missile won his maiden here at the track and trip two starts back, he was mid-field on the rails before getting a good cart into the race approaching the turn. He fanned wide into the straight, hit the lead half-way up the straight and ran away for a comfortable win. He then went to Newcastle in a much harder BM64 and after getting back, made a short sharp run but clearly wasn’t good enough and may not have handled the soft track. He gets back to the mile in a much easier Class 1 & maiden here, the tongue tie goes on suggesting there also may have been another issue last start. He will be mid-field in the run and running on hard.
