Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, April 2nd
Gosford Race 3 - (Market)
(7) Foxy Rocket is second-up today, he has been to the races ten times and placed at 6 of them. He resumed at Hawkesbury and was very heavily backed, after jumping awkwardly, he over-raced and settled back in the field. He was held-up approaching and early in the straight when the runs came, got a split before the furlong pole and hit the line well for third. He placed second-up last campaign and should be able to settle closer than he did fresh. The runner-up from that last run has since come out and won a Wyong maiden easily and the fourth horse has won a city maiden. The form line looks good out of that.
Gosford Race 4 - (Market)
(1) Red Hot Moon is a daughter of I Am Invincible trained by Bjorn Baker that had four trials and given plenty of time in preparation for her debut at Newcastle two weeks ago. She was backed as if there was no settling, her official OP was $4 and she SP’d $2.35. She was hampered at the start and travelled well back in the field, was stuck wide without cover early before getting a three-wide cart into it. She chased hard but found the winner too good. She gets the inside barrier here and had showed speed in her latest trial, it’s a negative jockey change but she that weight of money on debut can’t be ignored.
Pakenham Race 1 - (Market)
At the time of writing there are black odds available about (7) It’s True but I doubt when the gates crash back she will be anywhere near even money. The John Sadler trained daughter of So You Think has not been at the official trials but did have two jump-outs before being turned out, then was seen at the Caulfield jump-outs early in March. She jumped fairly but took a sit before easing wide around the turn, the six horses came to the line as one, she was very wide but the jock could not have been more casual through the line. She won the un-official trial and could have put a gap on them, a replay can be found here.
Cairns Race 2 - (Market)
An interesting race over the flying 950m. Most would think that you lead you win over that trip but often we see them come from off the speed to win here. (3) Bank Teller has some tactical speed but I can see her just getting the cold sit as the four horses drawn inside her will be going crazy early. She is first-up today and has won fresh previously, she gets a good claim and fresh she can power over the top late. Little Stryker was an enormous win over this trip last time and would have traded at a massive price in the run. She will eb the other one steaming home late.
