Newcastle Race 5 - (Market)
(4) Concessions ran on well at Scone three starts back after getting a mile back, she then went to town and onto a very heavy track at Warwick Farm and did very little after sticking back towards the inside. She went north for the Armidale Cup a month ago as her last run into this, settling closer to last than first early she made a long-sustained run before hitting the lead just inside the furlong pole. She raced away and put a gap on them over the last 100m to win by almost 5 lengths! This is a little tougher but it was hard not to be impressed by the margin she put on them there late. She should get a soft run on the rails mid-field and wit the big straight here, will have plenty of time to get a run.

Newcastle Race 11 - (Market)
Well, once again the Central Coast had a feature race called off due to weather, this time it was Wyong’s Provincial Champs Qualifier that has been transferred to Newcastle today. (13) Miss Scorcher was in the Gosford Qualifier that was transferred here two weeks ago, she was second-up that day and had to do a stack of work! The pace was hot up front and after lobbing in a good spot early, she was the one that was forced to do all the chasing. She was there to strike in the straight but was a little wayward under pressure, she stuck on well as the swoopers came from the back in what was a track record time. She gets out in trip and should be fully fit third-up, she has enough tactical speed to get behind the leading couple again and should have more acceleration with the slower tempo.

Mornington Race 4 - (Market)
(3) Alphaville was sent to the paddock off an encouraging debut at Kyneton back in November after placing from up on the speed. He resumed at Pakenham off a 4-month break, settled well back in the run before running on hard and hitting the lead, just peaking late and getting run down. Last start at Cranbourne he stepped up to the 1500m and settled a lot closer but over-raced in the run. He was held-up early in the straight behind the leader, eventually got a gap and was ok through the line after losing momentum at a vital stage. He gets the blinkers on today and hopefully settles better, drawn in the middle of the line, he shouldn’t have similar traffic issues here.
Mornington Race 5 - (Market)
(5) Frome The Stars has had four runs this campaign and has been good at all of them. She won her maiden when second-up at Werribee, she was up on the speed but was pressured throughout from the outside. She took over at the furlong pole and ran away for a nice win. She then chased hard into third at Ballarat in a BM58 to place, last start at Ballarat she was good again against the boys. She settled worse than mid-field before getting very wide on the turn, charged home out in the middle of the track whilst laying in. She missed a place but was only beaten a half length. Drawn well and back against her own sex, she can settle closer and get that first win out of maiden grade.
