Australia will face off against Georgia in the fourth and final game of the Rugby World Cup group stage! We have a full preview and betting tips for the game below.
Australia vs Georgia
(Friday, 11th October, 9.15pm)
The Wallabies easily accounted for Uruguay last Saturday (45-10) and now face Georgia in their last game before the knockout stages. The Aussies currently sit atop Pool D with 2 wins and 3 bonus points. But with Wales playing Fiji and Uruguay, it looks like Australia will finish 2nd in the Pool. Which would mean a Quarter's matchup against either England or France. After slow starts against Fiji and Wales, the Wallabies showed good signs in the first half against Georgia with a 19-3 lead at half-time. Jordan Petaia had a dream debut with an early try and Tevita Kuridrani secured a double on either side of halftime. Michael Cheika will continue to make team changes for this clash against Georgia as well. Matt To’omua joins Nic White in the halves, Michael Hooper gets a rest on the bench, Koroibete is back and David Pocock will captain the side.
The highlight of Georgia’s World Cup campaign was the 33-7 victory over Uruguay. Competing with the top sides in Rugby is always a tough ask but their squad is gaining good experience. They opened the tournament with an expected loss against Wales, 43-14. Previously, Fiji also had a field day against them with a 45-10 result. They’ve never played the Wallabies so they’ll be using this clash as an experience builder for future test matches.
Ultimately, this is the Wallabies last chance to work on their combinations and game-plan before the Quarter Finals. So it’s hard to see Georgia’s defence standing up to the Wallabies attack. Georgia has conceded 45 and 43 points in their 2 losses. With Australia coming off a 45-10 win over Uruguay, it’s looking like a similar result this Friday.
