2024 AFL Round 8 Tips
Thursday May 2nd
What an intriguing Showdown this will be to kick off Round 8. The Crows are coming off a big win against the Kangaroos, while the Power managed to see off the Saints. A growing Power injury list also levels the playing field a touch.
Friday May 3rd
The Blues couldn't match it with the undefeated Cats last weekend and will need to up the ante this week if they're to bounce back against the reigning premiers. Can the Magpies extend their unbeaten run to five?
Saturday May 4th
The Swans demolished a listless Hawks side last weekend but will face a much tougher test in Round 8 against their crosstown rivals, the Giants. This should be a cracker!
The Saints' season is beginning to slip away at 2-5 and an easy kill against the Kangaroos has seemingly come at a perfect time. Surely they get back on the winners list here?
The Demons weren't at their best against the Tigers but still ran away comfortable winners. They'll need to lift their performance by quite a bit this weekend if they're to have any chance of knocking over the unblemished Cats.
The Eagles couldn't make it three on the spin in Round 7 when they fell to the Suns, but it was another promising performance. Meanwhile, the Bombers continued their hot form against the Magpies on Anzac Day.
Sunday May 5th
The Tigers fought hard against the Demons on Anzac Day Eve but couldn't quite maintain the rage in the second half. They now face a Dockers side that has already lost to one of the bottom four clubs in 2024.
The Bulldogs' inconsistencies continued in Round 7 when they lost to a seemingly hungrier Dockers side. However, they're the heavy favourites to bounce straight back onto the winners list this weekend when they play host to the Hawks.
To close out an exciting Round 8 we have an epic QClash between the Lions and the Suns. Interestingly, it's the Suns who enter this edition as the team in the better form, such has been the poor start of the Lions in 2024.
