Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Sunday, September 15th.
We conclude a huge weekend of racing with meetings at Geelong and Sunshine Coast this afternoon and Luke Krahe has given his best bets for each track below.
Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, September 15th
Geelong Race 4 (Market)
(4) Planet Warrior is having his second race this prep and fifth run overall for the Hawkes team and gets out past the mile for the first time in his career. His run was resuming and unfortunately ran into what could be a real smart horse in Scottish Dancer, the 3YO gelding was on debut and was outstanding with some great closing sectionals. He has been well backed in a much harder race in town on Saturday, by the time of reading, we will know how that form holds up. Planet Warrior was well backed that day at Benalla, sat up on the speed and took over before being swamped late. There are no unknowns like that here, has placed at his only other second-up run and hopefully pushed forward early like last time. He will be very hard to run down with that run under his belt.
Geelong Race 6 (Market)
(12) Oneira is a very consistent type and maps beautifully, she will roll forward making her own luck up on the speed. I would really love Linda Meech to take up the running and if so, I will be going again in the run. She races well here at the track, two back she was on the heavy 10 here and bolted in after sitting up on the speed, the margins were 2.5 x 4.5!! She was then behind the leaders with a good run in transit in a similar race here at the track, ran up to hit the front in the straight but was no match for the winner. There was a good gap to third that day, she was solid in the market and handles all conditions. (10) Mieszko looks the lay of the day, yet to win a race out of maiden grade almost 18 months ago and I expect him to drift, even with the blinkers back on. (7) Urban Lumberjack is another I am keen to take on, he won a weaker race on the synthetic then was beaten out of a place as favourite at Benalla last time at 64 grade, after having the race run to suit.
Sunshine Coast Race 3 (Market)
There are a few unknowns here with 4 of the 12 runners facing the starter for the first time, but barring any superstars and some serious money for them, happy to be with (12) So You Beauty for the Bevan Laming yard. She was resuming in town last time in a QTIS race for the 3YO fillies after having 40 weeks on the sidelines, was easy in the market as you can understand at that level and started huge odds. She was well back in the run and made some ground late and although she was beaten 4 lengths, that looks good enough for a race like this. Perfectly drawn in the middle of the line, she showed some tactical speed last prep and taking on the older horses here, expect that Tegan Harrison will be on the move early and be on the speed for a long way. Obviously, as stated earlier, respect any serious money for those on debut.
