Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Tuesday, August 6th.
Scone and Wodonga are the two meetings we focus on for today's preview, and Luke Krahe has given his two best bets for each track below!
Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, August 6th
Scone Race 2 (Market)
(1) Martha Heights is having her sixth run this prep, she ticked the maiden win off the list at Bathurst three starts back where she bolted in by more than 5 lengths as a short-priced fave. She was the on the speed but over-raced badly before fading at Hawkesbury, her latest run was at Goulburn against the boys where it is fair to say, she had her chance. This looks a lot easier coming back against the girls and the small field should suit her style of stalking the leaders. (3) Snipex Abaa is very quick and looks the leader but she may cop some pressure and this is a tough 1100m to run out with the big straight. (5) Strapping Conquest looks the other main player coming off a dominant maiden win at Dubbo, she showed a much better turn-of-foot than what she had been previously but prefer to see her out of maiden grade first and the inside alley may prove tricky.
Scone Race 4 (Market)
We will once again target a Class 1 and Maiden plate over a mile at set weights, I love these races as a betting proposition. Unfortunately, unlike many of these races, there are only two maidens engaged and both look to be easily discarded and will be huge odds. Nonetheless, locally trained (10) Love Me Quietly comes here after a good maiden last start at Tamworth. Obviously, that was an easier race, but there was a lot to like about his win albeit via the steward’s room. He showed speed, took a sit and after being pocketed at the top of the straight, chased hard but wasn’t able to pick up the eventual winner who had the momentum down the outside. That winner was protested against successfully for causing interference to another runner, promoting Love Me Quietly to the top spot. She has the good gate to use her natural speed and the jock should have the option to lead or take a sit, preferably the former.

Wodonga Race 3 (Market)
(10) White As Snow is a grey mare out of the Hayes/Hayes/Dabernig yard, she has been to the races once in her life at Geelong three weeks ago. She was easy in the market and double figure odds in a harder race than this, settled well back early before making a long-sustained run and not missing the placings by far. She gets out in trip, which looks to suit, the blinkers go on, with that race experience she should be able to settle a little closer. The horse that ran second that day has since come and bolted in by more than 3 lengths at Sale in a maiden no easier than this, it looks the right form line and this stable can really improve one from start one to two.
Wodonga Race 4 (Market)
(11) White Thyme looks the best of good things at Wodonga in a weak maiden today stepping up to the mile. She has had three runs back this prep, she had no luck at Swan Hill when held-up at a vital stage and should have finished a lot closer. She then went to Wangaratta and looked a little flat second-up before a good effort in a much harder maiden at Bendigo on the heavy track last time, A horse that he beat to get into the placings that day has since come out and won a maiden at Casterton by 7 lengths, so the form lines read good for a race like this. I expect her to settle a lot closer stepping up in trip and she handles the conditions well. The main danger will be if the emergency (13) Makfi Gold gets a start. She hasn’t had a lot of luck at three runs this prep, she will run on well but will probably be giving the top pick the tactical advantage. If she starts it will mean we will be getting a better price about White Thyme.
