Great night of Harness Racing coming from Gloucester Park this Thursday, the 21st of June!
There's two Group 1s on the card with the Westbred Classic Pace for the 3YO Colts and Geldings (Race 4), and the Westbred Classic Pace for 3YO Fillies (Race 6).
We have a preview and betting tips for some of the best value races of the night below.
Gloucester Park Harness Tips
Race 2 – 6:46pm AEST
The horse to beat is (1) Speed Man from the inside barrier but I am happy enough backing two horses here. The first is (3) Simba Bromac who has the class to match Speed Man. Chris Lewis drives for Nathan Turvey which is a huge positive. Simba Bromac is first up from a spell with a trial win under his belt. He has performed well in FFA company and should run well. (2) Back To The Beach raced in FFA company two starts ago and has beaten Speed Man back in April. Should map well and can run a strong last half when saved for one run.
My Rated Prices: Simba Bromac $4.00, Back To The Beach $11
Race 4 - 3YO COLTS AND GELDINGS WESTBRED CLASSIC (2130m) – 7:47pm AEST
The first of two Group 1 Westbred Classics and this one is for the colts and geldings. Really keen on (3) Patrickthepiranha who will find the lead from barrier three with (2) Major Artist a hand-up horse in this grade. Patrickthepiranha was a winner six starts ago as an odds-on favourite in a Group 2 event. He should carve out quick sectionals in front and prove hard to catch. Major Artist is a place chance at big odds. Plenty of winning chances in the race that depend on how well (or poor) Patrickthepiranha performs. (8) Know When To Run is the horse to follow going forward so watch how he runs home.
My Rated Price: $1.60
Race 6 - 3YO FILLIES WESTBRED CLASSIC MS PACE (2130m) – 8:42pm AEST
One filly stands out in the race and that is (4) Typhoon Tiff. At her best she beats this field for fun and her record of six wins from 10 starts can attest to that fact. She should find the lead unless (1) Aly Shar or (3) La Roue De Lamour decide to chance their arm. Typhoon Tiff is capable of breezing to win also so will have options in the race. She has been supported in the early markets and is starting to get closer to her right price. (7) Mandy Joan looks the main danger in the race.
My Rated Price: $1.35
Race 7 – 9:09pm AEST
A consolation for the 3YO colts & geldings that looks wide open. I have no real idea about the speed map here as we have a lot of different form lines entering the race. (5) Our Virtuoso is familiar with Gloucester Park and generally runs around the 1:57 and 1:58-mile rate mark which is good enough to win this race. He also has gate speed and will either cross them to lead or sit parked in the breeze. Three-straight seconds suggest he is ready to win. (12) Bettor Be Oscar has some class in this field and I expect him to go close. His closing sectionals are very good and will be running home strongly.
My Rated Prices: Bettor Be Oscar $3.50, Our Virtuoso $4.40
Race 9 – 10:09pm AEST
The best gate speed on the front line goes to (6) Maczaffair and (7) The War Nurse. Maczaffair draws inside and looks a good chance of crossing to lead over the 1730m. If she hits the rail, she should lead throughout to score a victory. She is always close in this class and has been running well against the FFA boys. Looks a great race for Maczaffair to return to the winner’s circle. (2) Lady De La Renta is the main danger.
My Rated Price: $1.75
