After a disappointing Test series, the Australians bounced back in the first ODI against India, claiming a 34-run win in Sydney to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The tour will head back to Adelaide on Tuesday for the 2nd ODI, kicking off at 2.20pm and we have you covered with a full betting preview for the game below.
Australia vs India 2nd ODI Preview
After winning the toss and batting first, the Australians had multiple partnerships through the top and middle order, supported by Usman Khawaka (59), Shaun Marsh (54), Peter Handscomb (73) and Marcus Stoinis (47) who all chipped in with valuable innings. The Australians posted a respectebale score of 288 off their 50 overs then got off to a fantastic start with the ball.
The Indians were reeling at 3-4 in the fourth over after losing Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Ambati Rayudu for three combined runs. A 137-run partnership between Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni steadied the ship for the Indians and even gave them a slither of hope, however, a tough LBW decision for Dhoni put the final nail in the coffin for the Indians.
A brilliant 133 off just 129 balls was the highlight of the Indian innings, while Before You Bet followers cashed in a hand bet at odds of $5 as Jhye Richardson was the top Aussie wicket-taker with fanastic figures of 4-26 off his 10 overs.
It will be interesting to see if India decide to bolster their bowling attack heading into the second game in Adelaide. The absence of Jasprit Bumrah seemed to have a real impact on their partnership breaking ability but with him being rested for the entire one-day series, the Indians are left with limited pace options and will rely heavily on spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Jadeja to claim wickets.

India have also flown in allrounder Vijay Shankar and batsman Shubman Gill to replace Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul after they were suspended for comments made on an Indian TV celebrity show.
It’s unlikely that the Australians that will make a change heading into the second match. Spinner Nathan Lyon could be rested for the upcoming TEst match series against Sri Lanka for ODI specialist Adam Zampa while Billy Stanlake could get a run in favour of his Strikers teammate Peter Siddle, who was 1-48 off 8 overs in Sydney.
The Adelaide pitch has been predominantly a batting friendly one throughout the BBL08 season so far. The Strikers made 178 there just last week led by another brilliant 50 from skipper Colin Ingram and Aussie wicket-keeper Alex Carey loves batting on his home ground. Carey looked good in the first match before being undone by a great piece of Yadav spin. Looks good to be the top Aussie batsman at home on Tuesday.

The Australians were fantastic in the first match, particularly on the bowling front as they claimed three quick wickets through Behrendorff and Richardson. However, on a good batting pitch in Adelaide we think it’s unlikely that the Indian top four will fail to that extent again. Virat Kohli has now failed to make a half century in his last three ODI innings, he hasn’t went four ODI innings without since 2015. We expect Kohli to bounce back here and the Indians to level the series in Adelaide, where they captured the Test win.
