Monday Night Football - Penrith Panthers v Brisbane Broncos
Where: Sportingbet Stadium, Penrith
When: Monday 14th July at 7:00pm AEST
Third vs Seventh - Penrith Panthers are set to host the Brisbane Broncos at their home ground Sportingbet Stadium. Penrith are coming off a win last week against the West Tigers at Leichhardt and the Broncos are coming off a bye. Last time these two teams met was Round 24 last season when the Panthers defeated the Broncos 28-12.
The history of these two teams is quite interesting, they've met 50 times with the Panthers only winning 18 of those and with the Broncos being victorious 30 times with 2 draws thrown in there.
The Panthers have a big test for the next 6-8 weeks as their half-back Peter Wallace is out with an ankle injury. Back Rower Tyrone Peachey picked up the slack slotting into the halves last week and will do the same again with help from Jamie Soward. Jamal Idris has been crushing it since he returned from his personal leave of absence. In the two weeks since he returned he's broken 16 tackles ran 273 metre and scored a try.
The Broncos have named Queensland origin stars Justin Hodges, Sam Thaiday, Matt Gillett and game 3 man of the match Corey Parker. Ben Hunt has been playing well, he took it to the sharks a few weeks ago, and will be looking to follow up this week. Josh McGuire has found a way to move the ball this season. He enters this game with 7 straight 100+ metre performances.
With Penrith missing Peter Wallace, and despite the fact they've only lost 1 game at home this season, it’s hard to see them winning this one. The Bronco’s Ben Hunt is in great form and he should be directing this game. With most the Broncos players coming of a 14 day break, we think they will be giving this one a red hot crack. Will much closer than the bookmakers suggest. Happy to go against the grain and take the Broncos at odds.
