Our AFL fantasy team of the week performed admireably last week after a few post article omissions forced some scrambled changes. We scored 714 which would have just missed the money in the $50k Draftstars Saturday tournament but we’ll be looking to improve on that this weekend as we present our team of the week for Round 21 below!

Defenders: Connor Nash, Adam Oxley
Going real cheap in defence this weekend as it boasts a couple of 2018 first gamers in Adam Oxley and Connor Nash. Nash makes his debut for the Hawks on Saturday and is a key defender. Not sure what to expect from the youngster here but at just $5,000 any score over 60 would be valuable.
Oxley is another tall defender who has finally broken into the Collingwood side in 2018. Didn’t play a game in 2017 either but in 12 games the year before averaged 17 touches and 5 marks for 70 fantasy points.
Midfielders: Lachie Whitfield, Gary Ablett, Dayne Beams, Tim Taranto
Four big names in the midfield this week is what we are hoping can propel us into the money. Ablett is coming off a bit of a down week last weekend against the Tigers but his three games prior to that produced scores of 110, 110 and 130. Looking for him to bounce back this weekend against the Hawks, whom he has racked up scores of 138, 153, 138, 129, 157, 132, 139, 175, 147, 135 in his last ten games against.
Whitfield and Beams have been dominant of late, scoring 100s in 10 out of their last 12 combined games. Whitfield in particular has been on another level, not having scored under 100 since June and is arguably the Giants most important player at the moment. Beams hasn’t scored under 85 in his last seven games and scored 126 the last time he faced the Pies.
Taranto comes back into the side from injury this weekend and is averaging 89 in 2018 so far. Scored 102 against the Saints a few weeks ago and should once again see plenty of time in the midfield.
Forwards: Jeremy Cameron, Tom Rockliff
Cameron was good in his return from suspension last weekend, booting four goals and racking up 92 fantasy points. With no Jon Patton in the lineup, Cameron has been forced to play a bit closer to goal, which means not as many easy marks up the ground, but should continue to find goals.
Rockliff only scored 69 against the Crows last weekend but had scores of 95, 114, 80, 106 and 99 in his five previous games. Has turned his form around after a bad start to the season and is finally finding consistent time in the Port midfield. Missed Port’s clash against West Coast earlier in the year but has traditionally been good against them.
Ruck: Ivan Soldo
Soldo will start in the ruck for the injured Toby Nankervis this weekend. Which will mark his first game in 2018. Played seven games last season and averaged 52 points when a back up to Nankervis most of the time, expect him to score at least 70 here as a $5,000 player.
