2017-18 NBL Round 15 Preview & Betting Tips
New Zealand Breakers Vs Melbourne United (Thursday, 18th January, 5:30pm AEDT)
The Breakers have now lost 6 of their last 9 games after starting the season off at 9-1. With things heating up and playoff spots still up for grabs, New Zealand will be looking to finish off the season strong. However, it won’t be easy for them, as they’re set to host the red-hot Melbourne United on Thursday Night. The Breakers have been one of the better home teams this season, highlighted by their 7-3 record.
Melbourne United have shrugged off a slow start to the season and have exploded with a 7 game winning streak, catapulting them to the top of the standings. Perhaps their best win of the season came last round, where they knocked off the defending champion Perth Wildcats by 2 points on the road. They will face another tough challenge this week when they travel to New Zealand. A win over the boarder against the Breakers would truly make them the title favourites.
We’re shocked that United aren’t favourites in this one and will be backing them to the hills to keep their streak alive!
TIP: Melbourne United at the line (+2.5) - $1.87 at CrownBet
Adelaide 36ers Vs Illawarra Hawks (Friday, 19th January, 7:30pm AEDT)
Similar to Melbourne United, the Adelaide 36ers are in scorching form. They have now won 5 in a row and have forced themselves into a playoff position. They will host the Illawarra Hawks on Friday Night in an attempt to climb further up the ladder. The 36ers have been solid at home this season and have a 7-4 record.
The Hawks are coming in off a big win of their own and will be quietly confident on Friday Night. They kept their season alive with an emphatic 90-79 win over the Breakers in front of their home fans. However, they will have to back up again this weekend, but this time they’ll be on the road and facing one of the hottest teams in the competition. The Hawks are 3-6 on the road this season and will need to be on their A-game if they’re to have a chance.
We are taking the form team once again here to cover the line. Adelaide have been dominant lately and should take care of the Hawks.
TIP: Adelaide 36ers at the line (-5.5) - $1.90 at Sportsbet
Perth Wildcats Vs Sydney Kings (Friday, 19th January, 9:30pm AEDT)
The Wildcats will be disappointed with their efforts last weekend, where they failed to protect home-court against the inform Melbourne United. The loss caused them to slip to second on the standings with a 13-7 record. This weekend the reigning champions will be hosting the bottom of the ladder Sydney Kings in a game where they’ll be extremely confident. The Wildcats are 6-3 at home this season and will be looking to bounce back after last week.
Another week and another Sydney Kings loss is what we’ve come to expect and that’s exactly what happened last weekend. They are now a disgraceful 5-16 for the season and have lost their last 3 matches. To make matters worse they will have to take the road to face the defending champs on their own court. The Kings have nothing to play for and that’s exactly what it looks like when they’re on the court.
The Wildcats will win this game, it’s just a matter of how much by. We are expecting the Wildcats to blowout the woeful Kings.
TIP: Perth Wildcats at the line (-11.5) - $1.90 at Ladbrokes
