Just 1 of 3 for SmitsTips in Thursday’s NBA betting tips for one of his only losing days for BYB so far. We’ll look to bounce back from that this Saturday, the 4th of November as we preview some of the key games of the day and give our betting tips below.
2017-18 NBA Preview & Betting Tips for Saturday, 4th November
Cleveland Cavaliers at Washington Wizards (10am AEDT)
The Cavs have had a very rough start to the season starting 3-5 through their first eight games. Things will get tougher going forward with starting centre Tristan Thompson ruled out for the next month with a calf strain. With only a few genuine big men on their roster, Kevin Love, Channing Frye and Jeff Green will all be asked to chip in for big minutes going forward.
The Wizards have opened their season with a 4-3 record through seven games and will look to assert themselves as a serious Eastern Conference chance with a win over the Cavaliers here. John Wall has continued right where he left off last season, averaging 21 points and almost 10 assists per game in the opening few weeks.
The Cavs form has been underwhelming to say the least in the first few weeks of action and given their long list of injury problems the stars like LeBron James will have to step up greatly if they want to remain competitive here. We like his overs on total points for tomorrow’s matchup.
TIP: LeBron James total points OVER 26.5 - $1.89 at Sportsbet
Milwaukee Bucks at Detroit Pistons (10am AEDT)
Giannis Antetokounmpo is the early MVP favourite after just two weeks of play in the NBA and deservedly so. The Greek Freak has led his team to a 4-4 record and 31 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists along the way. They’ll have a tough game Saturday, however, as they face off against the Pistons, who lead the Central Division with a 5-3 record.
Andre Drummond has been a defensive juggernaut and a major reason for the Pistons early success while the bulk of the scoring load has been carried by Tobias Harris and Reggie Jackson. They’ll be hard to beat at home here and deserve to open as 2 point favourites.
Bucks big man Greg Monroe has been ruled out for two weeks with a calf strain for two weeks which opens the door for other players on the floor to grab rebounds. Drummond is the best rebounder in the league and is averaging 14.1 per game so far this season. We like him to hit his over after a couple of big performances over the last week.
TIP: Andre Drummond OVER 14.5 rebounds – $1.85 at Sportsbet
Boston Celtics at Oklahoma City Thunder (12.30pm AEDT)
The game of the day sees the Celtics travel to Oklahoma to take on the Thunder from 12.30pm. Boston have overcame a horrific injury to star recruit Gordon Hayward in the first game of the season and now boast a league best 6-2 record through the first few weeks of play. They have won six in a row, in fact, and Kyrie Irving along with young pair Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been carrying the load on offence.
The Thunder have started just 4-3 but as expected they look extremely dangerous on offence with all stars Russel Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony leading the charge. They have scored under 100 just once in their seven games so far and have a completely clean bill of health going into this game.
With a full roster available for the Thunder there are plenty of mouths to feed on offence. Westbrooks scoring output has dropped dramatically from last year with the all star surpassing 25 points just three times so far. The Celtics have a heap of above average defenders to throw at Westbrook in the likes of Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown so we like his under on total points here.
TIP: Russel Westbrook total points UNDER 25.5 - $1.89 at Sportsbet
