After a thrilling couple of League Championship series, the 2017 Major League Baseball season has reached its crescendo with the Houston Astros and LA Dodgers set to do battle in the World Series starting this Wednesday. We take a look at the series and give our betting tips below.
MLB World Series Betting Tips
Throughout the MLB postseason so far there has been thrilling upsets and series stretching to the max amount of games, but in the end, arguably the two most dominant teams of the season have made it to the World Series in the Dodgers and Astros.
Houston have been the most dominant batting line-up we’ve seen this season. Led by American League MVP favourite Jose Altuve, the Astros led the league in both hits and runs throughout the regular season and have one of the deeper batting line-ups in all of baseball. Consisting of George Springer, Josh Reddick and Carlos Correa, the bulk of the Astros line-up helped to pile on 20 runs in their series win over the Yankees and will need to be big again here against arguably the best pitching staff in the majors.
While the Astros have gotten most of their wins through great offence, the Dodgers have done it through outstanding defence and pitching. The Dodgers regular season ERA of 3.38 was second only to the Cleveland Indians while they held the benchmark for opponent batting average at a staggering .228. Clayton Kershaw will be completely rested to open this series and will pitch at least two games, which gives the Dodgers a massive head start.
Really tough series to call given the firepower of the Astros lineup at the moment, but the Dodgers have been the best team in the Major leagues throughout the regular season, and their starting rotation is absolutely world class. Along with Kershaw, Rich Hill, Yu Darvish and Alex Wood will likely take the mound for the Dodgers.
Clayton Kershaw Series MVP
$4.00
We are banking on a couple of wins from Kershaw here as he has been lights out for the better part of five years and loves the big stage. It’s not a big ask for the Dodgers to pull out two more wins from somewhere. Their offence will likely go off for at least one game so for the combo of Hill, Darvish and Wood to win another game isn’t unlikely, especially with the Dodgers holding the home field advantage for the series.
