Adelaide United vs Sydney FC (Friday 7.40pm AEDT)
These two sides returned to winning ways last week as they picked up 1-0 victories. The Reds were able to register their first three points for the season as they moved off the bottom of the table, however it was still a worrying performance against a poor Glory outfit. They will face a much tougher opponent this weekend with Sydney FC having the best defence in the league. The Sky Blues have conceded just six goals in nine matches and have kept six clean sheets this season. They have also been strong on the road and haven’t lost away from home in their past 11 regular season matches. Their defence will hold strong and add to their clean sheet tally as they pick up another narrow victory on the road.

Brisbane Roar vs Wellington Phoenix (Saturday 5.15pm AEDT)
After an incredible start to the season, the Roar have been unable to pick up the three points in their past three matches and suffered a loss to the now ladder leaders the Wanderers last weekend. They are still a competitive side and have been extra strong at home and are undefeated at Suncorp Stadium. Jamie McClaren and Brandon Borrello are their two attacking threats and they have been strong combining for nine goals this season. They will need to be at their best to penetrate the Phoenix defence that has kept back-to-back clean sheets. However, the Phoenix haven’t picked up a win on the road this season and they won’t be able to break that record this weekend as they suffer a loss in this one.

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne Victory (Saturday 7.30pm AEDT)
This will be the biggest match of the weekend as the two top teams on the ladder face off for the first time this season. The Wanderers are currently the inform team of the competition and have won their last six matches straight and Mitch Nichols has taken his game to another level and scored an absolute screamer last week to pick the victory. Although Nichols goal scoring has been valuable, his presence in the midfield at creating opportunities for his teammates and also holding onto possession of the ball has been the biggest contributor to the Wanderers current run of form.
Meanwhile, the Victory suffered their first loss in four A-league matches as they went down to the Wellington Phoenix in Auckland last week. However, the match was played on practically a cow paddock, which prevented the Victory from playing their style of football. Expect them to be back at their best this weekend as they push the Wanderers. This match will be a close one and it will end in a hard-fought draw.

Perth Glory vs Central Coast Mariners (Saturday 9.40pm AEDT)
Following the top of the table the clash, these two sides will be taking each other in hope of moving away from the bottom. The last two times they met it was the Mariners who got the better of the Glory after picking up a 3-2 victory at home. Since then the Mariners have picked up two draws and lost six matches whilst the Glory haven’t been much better with just the one win and one draw.
However, the Glory has been relatively strong at home and have been forced to play the majority of their matches to start the season on the road. They will want to penetrate the worst defence in the league that is yet to have a clean sheet whilst they have conceded 21 goals in the 9 matches. Their defence is too vulnerable and they will suffer another loss.

Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne City (Sunday 5pm AEDT)
In the final game of the weekend, City will be looking to keep their attacking dominance going as they travel to Newcastle to take on the Jets. In their past two matches they have found the back of the net on 10 occasions and five in each match. The big reason for this has been the fact that they have not wasted their opportunities whilst Aaron Mooy has been playing at an incredible level and has been almost impossible to defend. He has created chances for his teammates and has also found the back of the net on separate occasions himself.
Meanwhile, the Jets have struggled over the last five weeks and haven’t won a match since they defeated City in Melbourne six weeks ago. The away side will be looking for revenge from the loss mentioned and if Mooy can maintain his form then City will be impossible to beat.
