Caulfield will host its second race meeting in three days with a large 10-race program on Saturday afternoon. Race 1 will start at 12:15pm (AEDT) and runners will likely run on a Good 4 track. But with up and down weather conditions in the area, punters should check conditions.

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, December 16th 2023
Race 2: Evergreen Turf Handicap - 12:45pm (AEDT)
(3) Alhambra Lad has won 3 from 3 over this distance and track conditions should suit here. This is an easier race than his latest couple and he should get the gun run. He drops 6.5kg from his Ballarat effort of 6th which should help Billy Egan who is looking for his first win on top. Barrier 4 looks ideal and he has been in the money in half of his career starts.
(2) Herman Hesse is hard to catch but conditions should suit him also. The distance is no issue and he is fitter again after his Taree 6th.
(1)Regal Power may lead these and the drier the better for this one.
(4) Ferago was well supported last start when 3rd but a wetter track may be better.
(3) Alhambra Lad
$3.20 (2 Units)
Race 3: Millennium Services Group Handicap - 1:20pm (AEDT)
(4) Pitchanun is over the odds here I reckon for the Danny O’Brien stable which is in fine form this year. She has drawn the inside which can be an advantage at Caulfield and she can handle a Good track although a Soft tone would be better. She’s had a freshen up since running in some pretty good races during the Spring. She didn’t win one but ran on quite well in a few. This is easier.
(3) Piaggio can go forward or back so it might depend on the race pattern of the first couple of races for this one.
(5) Foolproof ran straight past them at The Valley in a night meeting but this is harder. Is the likely fav and has won 2 from 2 over the distance.
(7) So She Can Fly has won over the distance in both tries and likes Dry tracks.
(4) Pitchanun E/W
$1/$3.20 (1 Unit)
Race 7: NEDS Supersized Saturday Handicap - 3:40pm (AEDT)
(3) Jambalaya was odds on last start at The Valley, led and saluted. That was a month ago and on a Good track and Kah will try similar tactics here from barrier 7. Despite just having the one run, he has had enough jumpouts to suggest fitness is still high. He remains at the 1200m.
(5) Oak Hill won well when the fav last start (The Valley) and despite this being harder, he can position up around 4th again in the run and have one late crack.
(7) Altruist won well when first up at Yarra Valley but at this stage he just looks like he’s a country horse. Can place though.
(10) War Drama won well at The Bool from barrier 4 last time but has drawn barrier 12 this time which makes it tough.
(3) Jambalaya
$2 (4 Units)
Race 9: Stow Robotics Handicap - 5pm (AEDT)
(4) Bermadez hasn’t won in 590 days but is training and racing well by all reports. He has been getting back and running on well and stormed home to run 2nd at Flemington last start. From the widest barrier, McNeil will have to go back and try and run on again. Likes the distance but it's only his second time at Caulfield after running unplaced last time.
(2) Gravina I have tipped the last 3 times and he has run poorly. The Cummings team are trying again which suggests he is training fine at home.
(7) Pascero likes this distance but doesn’t usually run well here. Can place at odds though.
(9) Dubai Poet goes well on Dry ground and from barrier 2 should get the gun run.
(4) Bermadez
$4.80 (2 Units)
