India vs South Africa Betting Tips
Eden Gardens, Sunday 7.30pm (AEDT)
India and South Africa hold the top two spots on the table at the moment, having lost just one game combined. With just one match to play for each team following this one, Sunday night's game will be massive in shaping the top four and the semi final matchups.
India
The home nation are yet to put a single foot wrong in the tournament so far. In their last match, they piled on an impressive 8/357 against Sri Lanka on the back of great knocks from Shubman Gill (92), Virat Kohli (88) and Shreyas Iyer (82).
It was the bowling performance that really impressed in their game against Sri Lanka though. The Indian pace attack rolled through the Sri Lankan batting order, hacing them 8-29 at one point before bowling them out for just 55. Mohammed Shami collected his 2nd five wicket haul of the tournament with 5/18 off five overs.
With the three pronged pace attack working so well at the moment, it’s hard to see the Indians making a change to bring Ravi Ashwin back into the side, but Hardik Pandya could come back in at the expense of Suryakumar Yadav to add a sixth bowling option.
Shubman Gill Top IND Runscorer ($4.00 at Ladbrokes)
India Predicted XI: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravi Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj
South Africa
South Africa have a 6-1 record through their opening seven games but haven’t looked quite as invincible as the Indians so far. When batting first, they have looked incredible, posting a ridiculous first innings total of 375.4 largely on the back of some brilliant form from opener Quinton de Kock, who has already racked up four centuries.
However, when chasing, the South Africans have looked a little shaky. They lost their only game of the tournament in a shock upset to Netherlands as they failed to chase 245 before just barely getting over the line against Pakistan, chasing down 270 nine wickets down.
The Proteas were too good for the Kiwis in their last game, posting 4/357 before bowling the Black Caps out for just 167. Outside of a rotation to one of their fast bowlers, I don’t expect them to make any changes to their line-up here.
Aiden Markram Top SA Runscorer ($5.00)
South Africa Predicted XI: Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi
Betting Tips
Hard to look past India here with the way they are playing at the moment, however, I do think a lot relies on the toss here. NZ made a mistake by sending South Africa in to bat first and I think if given the chance, India will definitely test South Africa’s chasing skills here.
If you have to take a side here, I’m going with India at $1.53, however, I’m gravitating towards a century being scored in this match. So many of the batsmen on either team are in great form at the moment, and there have been 11 centuries scored in the 14 games involving one of these teams so far this tournament.
