Midweek racing returns to Sandown Hillside on Wednesday with an eight-race card on offer for punters. Some of the high-profi4 trainers are starting to ramp it up too as the Spring gets closer, so there will be plenty of quality horses in action. A Good surface is expected with little to no rain falling around the area over the last seven days.

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, August 9th 2023
Race 4: Ladbroke Communities Handicap - 2:10pm (AEST)
(2) Zaynudin has consistently been among the money in his 10-start career and I think he can notch up another win on the cv here. Despite carrying an extra three kilograms in this, he is super fit now after running placings at Warracknabeal and Hillside he last couple. He is a run on type and has the service of Mark Zahra in this so loses nothing without Blake Shinn this time.
(4) Barmah Al has drawn the rails and might get a comfortable run in this. When he had an inside barrier 3 starts back at Werribee he almost led all of the way when running 3rd beaten half a length. May lead this field.
(8) Live By The Sword ran on quite nicely for 2nd at Donald last start and does have the in-form Lindsay Smith as trainer.
(10) Shearman Dyer was beaten a nose at Pakenham last start but this is harder. Form is better on rain affected ground but is a strong stable.
(2) Zaynudin – WIN
$3.50 (2 Units)
Race 5: Ladbrokes Oddsurge Handicap - 2:45pm (AEST)
(3) Colombe D’or has placed twice previously on Good tracks and gets another Good track here. He ran on nicely at Werribee for the win and after a nice 2nd in a recent Cranbourne jumpout he is sure to be in this when the whips are cracking. He has placed over this distance previously and run 2nd when second up last prep.
(2) Boh Rhap stormed home for a Geelong win at his latest outing when fav and he might be the market leader again in this. Thomas Stockdale takes the ride for the second time.
(5) Crux has only been jumping out fairly but has to be respected being in the leading Moody&Coleman yard.
(6) Divine Diosa wasn’t disgraced when 8th at Caulfield last start and is another who is likely to get back in this one. Has raced in harder races than this in her last 2.
(3) Colombe D’or – WIN
$5 (1 Unit)
Race 6: Stow Storage Solutions Handicap - 3:20pm (AEST)
(4) Jabbawockeez remains with Damien Oliver and remains with 60kg on his back. It's going to be a Good surface but if there is any rain around on race day, then that's a bonus. Ollie rode him very well 2 starts back when he scored after sneaking an inside run and then last time he wasn’t too far away when 5th after getting held a bit in the straight. It might be his last run this prep and from barrier 6 he should get a bit more luck here.
(3) Frigid goes around gain after scoring at this track last time after settling on speed. Pinn stays on but she does go up 2.5kg in weight this time.
(5) Irish Rockstar goes up 4.5kg in weight which will make it tough to win but can place if he leads like he did when winning at Warrnambool 2 starts ago.
(2) Sir Rockford likes this distance and ran 2nd at this track at his only run here.
(4) Jabbawockeez – WIN
$4.40 (2 Units)
Race 7: Senet Family Law Experts Handicap - 3:55pm (AEST)
(8) Rheinberg has drawn wide in 12 but he has shown in the past that he can run well from any position when settling. Michael Dee has had 3 rides on him and has been in the money on all occasions and he does go well fresh. He ran well when 2nd in a jumpout last week and his 4.25L Sale win was dominant after settling handy. Clearly the one to beat.
(7) Our Boy Bryan is pretty consistent and should get a good run from barrier 2. Returns from Morphettville after running 3rd (beaten a head).
(6) Harbin has drawn inside and has won 3 of 7 starts on the Good. Ran on well last start when 3rd.
(3) No Surrender is one at odds than can race well. He has a wide barrier (13) but he did win a Flemington jumpout last week. Has been in the money 9 of 22 starts on the Dry.
(8) Rheinberg – WIN
$1.85 (4 Units)
